BMW and M Power Owners

If you're referring to the blue-caliper brakes on the F30, then yes, a good hammering every now and again keeps mine silent. They started squealing for the first time in 9 months the other week, a blast up the local country roads later and they're silent again.

It's like the car is telling you "please use me, abuse me". :p

3 series’ brakes are so bloody squeaky at the minute. Like, ear piercing loud and consistent.

Had a quick google where it seems it could be a problem with performance brakes not being used properly. As a result I utilised them ‘properly’ while screaming around the new forest.

God damn annoying. Any other advice from the gents in here? Will probably take it in to BMW and tie it in with a check up.

Mine have been squealing, had it in to the dealer and they said there was nothing wrong except that my front discs and pads and rear pads will need replacing soon.

Anybody have any suggestions for parts, I’ve been quoted around £900 to have the replaced.

Get a pad and disk measurement in mm, dealers are a bit overzealous when it comes to replacing brakes. What does iDrive say you have for pads? Mine ticked down to 3,200 miles and has stopped there, I'll consider replacing them when the countdown starts again.

Well I did the unthinkable and bought the car after the seller got the suspension repaired.

Here's a phone pic, will need to dust off the DSLR.

Jebus, you did it. These E46 M3's really do command properly mental money, especially for a 2002 pre FL model!

Idrive says 320 miles for the front and 8000 for the rears. I trust what they’ve said as I know one the people there.

Just need to find a place where I can get the parts cheaper than the dealer and I’ll get them to fit them.

Anyone had the dreaded ‘drivetrain issue, continue driving but book the car in’ error followed by the car going into limp mode on their F10?

Happened earlier today, not happened since.

I did start the car up and move it over on the driveway this morning, was on for about 30 seconds... error happened after i switched it on properly and ran it after this.

Could be numerous things but the EGR valve is a fairly common failure. It will have a fault code if you have a connected drive subscription with your servicing dealer set the car sends the fault codes to your dealer.

Replaced my rears yesterday. After chewing through the SC3s in 14 months down to under 3mm I got a nail in one. Got a decent price as the garage first got the wrong size in and then honoured that price.

If you're doing 50,000 miles a year, I wouldn't recommend a CSC5 :p
ContiSportContacts have always been excellent tyres, but never ones that were known for their longevity.

My Michelin Pilot Super Sports have done nearly 25,000 miles (mixed usage) in a FWD diesel Audi and have lots of tread left.

I’m glad I went for it, so much fun to drive, I finally see what all the fuss is about. I have a few plans for it, mainly refreshing suspension and sorting out the blemishes.

Haha, yeah. I had CS5s on my A3 and only got 11,000 miles out of the front tyres. I've switched over to Pilot Sport 4s now so fingers crossed they last a little longer.
