BMW and M Power Owners

If a dealer offers 16.5k I personally would bite their hand off.

I take everything with a pinch of salt tbh, so I doubt I'll get a call back with that offer. I do have someone who wants to come see the car tomorrow.

How do people take a payment usually? Bank transfer?

Well today I was expecting to have to have my rear brake pads replaced on top of a normal oil service etc. Was braced for a £500+ service

Ended up only needing rear brake fluid :D total cost of £71. Happy Monday!

I am looking to replace my F30 320d auto, looking at either a 428i/430d or a 530d/535d. Trade in value of around £9.5k. Ideally, I wouldn't want to spend more than an extra £9.5k, which works out at around £210/month over 48 months, hoping the residual value will be around the extra amount I've put in.

Must have options are a pro sat nav (makes the interior), upgraded speakers (can't stand the standard audio in my 3), Xenon/LED headlights (won't be a problem in this range), EURO 6 engine if diesel, and at least sports seats or better for comfort. I will be doing ~14k miles a year, most of it on A roads, with some heavy traffic thrown in.

My fairly local dealership has this on offer. My concern is the relatively high mileage, as I would be hitting 100k at the end of ownership, and the potential low residuals (old model).

Would it be worth making an offer on this around the £18k mark, or should I start looking for something more reasonable instead?

Alternatively, I've been looking at an Audi A4 B9 with the Tech Pack. It feels a lot more modern inside, but certain quality aspects are lacking in comparison to the BMW, and I wouldn't be able to get the better engine with it.

Unless I'm missing something there is one £1750 cheaper (higher mileage though) on AT. I honestly think the problem selling the 535D GT is the 530D GT which is cheaper, loads more so bigger choice and hardly any slower.

miss that one but its much higher miles

E60 - I wouldn't rule out the 525i or even 540i (small V8) and 550i. There isn't a huge amount between (I'd say 10-12 MPG in the real world) them in terms of MPG and when you actually work it out over 12000 miles a year it might be bearable. I had a 550i touring and got an overall 24MPG according to Fuelly.

The 540i is a bit unloved (why on earth they gave Europe two V8s but not the 535i turbo 6 I will never know) as it has the running costs of the 50i but around 60hp less, as such they are valued accordingly and you might see them at or near 530i price. It is a little better on fuel, to the extent of a couple of MPG, as it's a 4.0 vs a 4.8 in the 50i.

Where V8s kill you is on around town MPG, you'll be in the high teens without a doubt. On the motorway they'll turn over in sixth at 1700 RPM and return 30+.

The later 272hp 530i (2008 on I believe) are in fact very economical, I would bet 40MPG on the motorway at legal speeds.

Anyone have any experience with 130i's? I have a 5-6k budget and these fit in nicely but I don't really want to be forking out on suspension refreshes etc which I suppose is inevitable on a 11-13 year old car... but I suppose the N52 is reliable!

How did you not realise thats all it needed given it tells you exactly what is due in idrive :p

Because my rear brake pads were showing 700 miles left in the service requirements, but the check showed they have 9mm of wear left, so they fixed that issue. And as for thinking it needs oil, this is the first car I've had that didn't need an annual oil service :p
