BMW and M Power Owners

Been driving around in the perfect weather in the 240i. Because its the first RWD car I've driven I haven't driven it hard in Sport+ without first building complete confidence in the behaviour of the car.

I have in Sport and the rear does move, however, I naturally try and catch it straight away. How do you know if you've done it and not the electronics?
In Comfort and Sport the DSC will hardly let it slide at all and cut power very aggressively, so basically it's all the car. If it's really wet and you're ham-fisted you'll be able to make it slide but the DSC will catch it fast and pretty violently too. In Sport+ it will allow a fair bit of slip but if it goes too far (or too fast) again the DSC will intervene pretty violently. If you fully turn DSC off (long press and hold on the DSC button) then the car will go back into Comfort mode, and then you can figure out whether or not you can manage it :)

Is it common for the emblem part of the BMW badge to fall off? The one on the front of my Z4 has gone leaving the silver holder and glue residue, must have been really hot this week for it to melt the glue off haha.
Very common, had this happen a few times on old BMWs :) Ive always replaced with (probably fake) eBay badges and they have lasted as long as ive ever kept the vehicle.

The S3 isn't a significant downgrade from the 4 Series though, is it? I'd argue the interior is nicer than the 4. Sure, the A3 is a competitor to the 1 Series, but the F3x interior is hardly the epitome of quality.

This is also my opinion.

I have put up an ad, listed the car for 16995, lets see how it goes. Plan is to drive both an 2014 S3 sport back and LCI M135i, assuming I can shift this car privately. This is my first time selling an expensive car privately, but hopefully the 11 months of AUC warranty will help.

How does one take payment for such a large amount? Bank transfer?

The problem you have is very few people buy privately at this value and those who do will be somewhat suspicious that you've had it a whole month before deciding it needs to go.

It took me 3 months to shift my 335 under similar circumstances.

Yea I fully expect it to take quite a while. I'm hoping the AUC warranty will ease potential buyers minds since any issues with the car are covered.

its funny, If I try and shift a car for 60 to 100k there is no problem selling privately, but in the 10 to 20k bracket its rather difficult. My dads 535d GT is now the cheapest on in the uk and still not sold weeks later.

The GT goofy looks though...

:D

Unless I'm missing something there is one £1750 cheaper (higher mileage though) on AT. I honestly think the problem selling the 535D GT is the 530D GT which is cheaper, loads more so bigger choice and hardly any slower.

Haven't sold on AT in many years, didn't release it was so bad. Already had 2 calls this morning from dealers / agencies "interested" in buying. Interested in doing a quick hassle free sale.. er no, unless you pay asking.

WOTS UR LOWEST PRICE M8? GIZ YER 8K CASH YEH

Got given an i3 today as a hire car while mine is in for a service. It's quite a cool little car I must admit, interior is ghastly but to drive it's quite fun and the instant response from the throttle is cool. Only thing that kept throwing me off is taking my foot off the accelerator expecting to coast like in the F10, and the car would slow down massively every time. I can imagine an i8 would be absolutely brilliant fun

Pretty much, and I'm always direct with these guys straight away because I know their angle.

Had someone from BMW on the phone who would pay £16,250 but he is going back to his manager to look at £16,500. I can swallow that amount I think for this purchase mishap.

How much did you pay for it? Also got a link?

I've just been through the Autotrader sale rubbish myself. In future I think I'll be willing to pay money to not have to deal with it. So many tyre kickers.
One guy turned up with a tab on, stinking of booze, covered in mud, saying he wanted to buy it for his mate who wanted an XJ. He got shirty when I wouldn't let him drive it unless he handed me the asking price in cash. I held out and got a good price from a genuine buyer in the end but the process is just awful.

Hmm, I was going to list a car this week. Not looking forward to it.

Would you recommending listing high and taking offers, or going in at the lowest price that you would take and stand firm?

I remember seeing your Ad thinking there was a lot of car there. What money did it go for in the end - do you mind my asking ?

Gumtree seems OK here - sold two cars albeit low value (<£1000) in the past couple of years and although there were a lot of text time wasters the first guys to turn up for both cars bought them. Very different price point though...
