BMW and M Power Owners

I've moved away from the M235i and have now settled on an M340i. Dont do black/white/grey or blue so Sunset Orange it'll have to be!! My local dealer is coming back on carwow as 10% off the OTRP for the spec I want to order. Initially I was happy with 10%, but unsure if it is realistic to expect further discounts. So dont know whether to go in and push for more or just go ahead and buy with this price? It wiil be next week that I visit the dealer, so time to think. As I have a car to part ex, I take it that if they give me a great deal off the OTRP they will try to not give me such a good deal on my part ex price?

Price to change! Doesn't matter if they give you £2k off if they low ball you by £2k on your part ex does it?

I’d speak to Tony Lewis first and run your car through Motorway or WBAC and see what they offer as you’ll get the best of both worlds but also know what numbers can be done.

True. Normally always part ex my previous car when I get my next one. Have checked WBAC so have that figure in my head to compare with the dealers part ex figure.

I have seen Tony Lewis mentioned a few times, and have seen some of his offers on the baby bmw forums. I'll fire off an email tomorrow.

I got the same discount as a stock car has as with a factory order. I must be a tougher negotiator...

Yes for the same reason as used car prices going through the roof... A factory order is the least optimal way to get a car currently so every other way is going for a premium.

I contacted Tony Lewis. Sadly no more M340i's due from him this year as he has used up his allocation, and will not be allocated any more until 2022. So I will start visiting my local dealerships next week to see what they can offer, and if they still are getting delieveries this year.

An M340i touring has just arrived at my local BMW, awaiting pictures and a video to be sent but I might go take a look. The M140i is getting a little on the small side now with the addition of a dog and family planning next year.

Not sure whether to wait before all the madness has stopped or just make a move now. Unfortunately I don't think I'll have enough money for it even with a bank loan so part of it would have to be PCP and they don't appear to want to budge on the 7.9% used APR.

Not sure how to play this if I did do it, get a bank loan to top up my savings to reach the max PCP deposit thus lowering the interest paid on the PCP? Or borrow more and overpay the PCP? I could see me keeping the car 5 years or so as it'll more than suit all of our needs.

you could get a quote from an independent finance company that may likely beat the 7.9% bmw offer...

One example. For full transparency that's my cousin's business, so feel free to remove if it breaks any rules mods, but I certainly don't get any commission. I do know that a few forum members have used him before, as have I.

Generally, it always makes sense to borrow as much of the money at the lowest rate possible though, so a bank loan to get to max PCP would be best (though not sure how good it would look on credit record to get a bank loan and then pcp immediately thereafter...)

Out of curiosity, what's the scoop with maintaining the battery warranty on an i8 these days? The insured warranty documentation I found says
with the exception of the following. Battery, BMW i3 and BMW i8 high voltage and auxiliary batteries,
but then the actual BMW site says the i8 battery warranty is 8 years/100k. Presumably this is therefore impossible to extend, making 2014/5 cars basically unpurchaseable? I can't seem to find wording for the AUC warranties that specifically addresses this, but I might be being blind.

Doesnt make them unpurchasable, just makes them much cheaper as anybody looking at buying one may have to factor a replacement battery at some point.

Used replacement i8 batteries seem to be around £2500 plus fitting so iif buying a 2014 car, factor in you may need to sped at least £3k on it soon. That doesnt make the car worthless.

EDIT cant seem to find any UK BMW figures but in the states a brand new battery fitted by BMW is $3500 so surely shouldnt be more than £3,500 here?
