Programming and Encoding the Vehicle Control Units (RO and Claim Comments Required) The programming procedure automatically reprograms and encodes all vehicle control modules which do not have the latest software I-level. If one or more control module failures occur during this programming procedure: Please claim this consequential control module related IRAP recovery procedure (when applicable as required)/repair work under the defect code listed in this bulletin with the applicable AIR labor operations. Please explain this additional work (The why and the what) on the repair order and in the claim comments section For control module failures that occurred prior to performing this programming procedure: When covered under an applicable limited warranty, claim the applicable test plan and the corresponding control module-related repair work using the applicable defect code and labor operations in AIR (including diagnosis). Consequential Repair When additional work and/or parts are required as a direct result of the issue that is described in this Service Information bulletin, claim these items under the under the defect code listed above together with the corresponding labor operations (including any additional diagnosis) listed in AIR if applicable.
looks like a warranty should exist on other modules, and not clear what happens if it doesn't

Well looks like I’ll be getting rid of the 320i it’s only done 30k miles and the turbos gone
guess you don't mean 30k miles from brand new and still under warranty

2019 plate mate
ok - I'd acknowledged it wasn't same car - but bmw strategy for dealing with 'consequential' failure is relevant ...
(but the process is not dissimilar to ... I had a catalyst replaced recently and had expected header bolts might shear and need re-tapping which could increase labour cost significantly,
I'd have just had to pay up ... which might be the banal answer for the op, unless you could prove they'd been reckless during repair)

I've been sniffing about some F80 M3's. I drove a 2017 Pure last week that the full Competition kit on and in it which is kind of bizarre to me, not sure why you would do that, but it also had Apple Car play. Not all of them have it though. How do I know from looking at the online ads if the car has it or not? If it doesn't can it be upgraded reasonably cheaply? Plenty places online offer it but I wouldn't want to replace the head unit.
These cars are $200k new here, no idea why someone wouldn't spec it with car play. .

Example.

I've been having a nosey around recently at chopping in and getting a 5 series touring. Is there much of a difference between the 530d and 535d that I'm going to notice day to day?

So, as per my earlier post in Show Us Your Motors, i'm now the happy new owner of an Estoril Blue 440i Gran Coupe M Sport.

Having a colour was one of the uncompromisable elements of my next car, having had metallic black (pain to keep looking clean and nice) followed by metallic white (similarly difficult to keep looking clean but not as rewarding when it was clean). Blue was top of the list and i'm really pleased with the Estoril Blue in particular.

Besides the obvious OcUK favourite black bits/black wheels, it's got the M Performance exhaust with carbon tips and has been dyno tuned to around 425bhp, so it's a decent performance step up from the vRS 245, which i'm definitely enjoying. It certainly demands more respect than the vRS did and it's been annoyingly cold far too often recently, so still far from fully exploring its capability. The noise it makes is leagues ahead of the vRS, as you'd expect. The exhaust is impressive in its ability to switch between relatively quiet and sedate to entertainingly loud. Some element of black magic means it also manages a 40mpg+ return on the commute in Eco Pro.

Interior wise, despite being a Pre-LCI car it's been updated to iDrive 6 (with CarPlay) along with the 6WB digital dash, so the infotainment experience feels relatively fresh for the age of the car. It has a fairly nice specification to go along with this including HUD, 360 parking cameras, side view cameras, adaptive headlights, adjustable lumbar seats, heated steering wheel and sunroof.

Hugely pleased with it so far!

Continuing my thoughts from the end of last week theres no real reason to look at just 5 series when a 3 series is plenty big enough for me.

You're missing the point if that's all you think the difference is.

The 5 Series is a much better car than that model of 3 Series. The interior is a much nicer place to be, it is more refined, it is better built and the level of standard equipment is better.

Saw a dark green Z4 Coupe today. Looked lovely; don’t see many around these days and I’ve never seen a green one. Best of all: red leather interior! Couldn’t take a pic as I was driving.

Sorry if I sound a bit dim but what are the key differences?
