BMW and M Power Owners

Yep. Work and cost listed in the 2021 service confirms it was a major.

Whats makes you say that about the brakes? The 2020 service was at the same indy but i don't have the papaerwork for it.

On top of the oil service, I'll get a vehicle check done too for my peace of mind, esp as it'll confirm how the brakes are.

Thanks btw.

I doubt the indy who sold you the car, did a brake fluid change. You said they changed the oil?

If your brake pads are showing 30k left and you are sure they are wearing thin, then they must have reset that as well without changing the brake pads.

I think they did. I'll have to check the paper work or emails.

Agree with you that i doubt they would have done a brake fluid change and as it's not listed in the 2021 service paperwork, it must have been 2020 indeed at the latest (34k). Assuming i need the pads changed over summer, I'll get the brake fluid changed then too.

Had my hand brake adjusted as it was literally lifting up into the sky to get it to hold. The mechanic told me they are self adjusting and to do it, you need to pull the hand brake up and go in reverse. Was night and day difference afterwards but still slowly went back to lifting high before it would hold. Had him balance hand brake adjuster and now its perfect!

This is on a M140i.

BMW used to be after 2 years a long time ago now.
My car is a 2021 model, the idrive and the app states it is due it's first service and a brake fluid change. Audi's used to be every three years but this was changed to two..

Interesting, what's the car?

Was it changed again?

Either way f series m240i is 3 years then every 2 years. I have one.

Mine is a, deep breath, a series 2 gc m1235i, f44. Not alone with the fluid change cycle as the series 1 m135i f40 is the same. But yes possibly one of the few where it's a 2 year first change.
Haven't had it done yet as the car is booked in at the end of the month for it's first service..

Had a 'refill coolant' message on my 7 Series yesterday, been to BMW and there's a leak from the EGR cooler (part of which was replaced some time ago as a recall).

Needs an entirely new part and isn't considered safe to drive, but they are on backorder for potentially several months...

BMW UK have agreed to supply an equivalent car (7 Series requested) until mine is fixed, so just waiting to hear...

Hi all

Looking at a new car, and the (private) seller has sent me some photos of the underside of the car.

Is there anything here which looks a bit suspicious?

Thanks in advance :-)

shocks (like mine) rusty body , so maybe they're past their prime (maybe, better state, springs were changed though) - no pictures of the diff, or anti roll bar bushing/links to see them /any oil weep.

2010 car so seems reasonable

Excessive wear on shoulder of tyres.

Would this point towards the camber being a little out?

More likely toe.

Cheers

I’m fairly sure the car is in good condition. It’s a low mileage example, really well specced and reasonably maintained.

It has had an oil change every 10k miles, equating to ~18-24 months.

It’s an N55 engine, which tend to be fairly reliable.

Sparks done on time. Everything replaced on MOT when advised to do so.

Decided not to go BMW, strictly the service is supposed to be done in April, and everywhere near me is booked till May. I also take issue with their scope charge.

£45 at Kwikfit. Haven't died yet. Was completely empty today, so got pretty good service.

Also since the wheels were off I put genuine centre caps back on. Took me a while to source real OZ caps, and had fake ones on for a while.

M car generational drag race, not bad at all, the E46 launches super quick, that's been my experience too

Naturally the turbo units pull ahead with their torques.

V8 seems to be a bit of a lard arse!
Terrible launch I can only assume. It should be 1/2 a sec quicker over the quarter mile. A dct would be gone but since when have these cars been about straight line speed

Terrible launch... Every time? Heh. E46 is just great to launch in a manual and consistently too.
