BMW and M Power Owners

Out of curiosity, does anyone else on iDrive 6.0 have issues with erratic Bluetooth audio streaming? It seems worse lately (perhaps related to iOS updates too).

It'll always play, but won't let you select tracks etc by scrolling on the steering wheel/iDrive wheel.

The Spotify side of things seems to work better...
Yes but sounds like a slightly different issue to yours.
I have Android/Google Pixel and assumed it was related to the device updates. My issues are more with streaming just randomly stopping, or it claiming to be playing but no sound.

Worth paying double for simple brake fluid change? Do people look for brake fluid services on idrive for "full" BMW service history?

This is also way less convenient as I don't have a dealer near me and I have to leave the car for a day with them.

Why isn’t it in combination with an oil change or other service item ?

They are out of sync.

First brake fluid change is at 3 years and then every 2 years.

Services are every 2 years.

Pretty normal as far as i'm aware.

Decided not to go BMW, strictly the service is supposed to be done in April, and everywhere near me is booked till May. I also take issue with their scope charge.

I’d just line them up with one going early. Saves messing about with multiple trips and that scope charge

Problem is i've heard they sometimes aren't willing to officially reset the service indicator and treat it as an interim service.

I'll give it a try as next service isn't too far off and is just an oil change.

Brake fluid is brake fluid and AFAIK the service indicator can be reset in the car without any dealer equipment. I paid £42 including the fluid itself at my local trusted Indy.

Every service item can be reset manually. Just won't have an idrive entry on the online server.

If you don't at least reset it, idrive will permanently show a red service item.
They reset it for me last time. BMW dealer who also doesn’t mind me supplying own oil. Appreciate some dealers can be funny.

The vehicle inspection service is another annoying one

That's just the MOT? You can change the date to anything you want.

Anyway, decided a waste of money doing the service 6 months early. Will just get the brake fluid service done for £45, and live with the lack of idrive entry. They all use those automated bleeding machines anyway.

Service question for my 2017 M240i.

In May 21 on 37k, it had an engine oil service, a vehicle check service, and replacement of pollen (= microfilter?) and air filters, and spark plugs, by the previous owner at an indy.

I'm coming up to 54k and I-drive recommend a "service due" and "vehicle inspection" due June 23 or 11k. "Engine oil, vehicle check and brake fluid check" are all due in April 24 or 11k. Brake checks are due for another 30k but MOT reported them as thin/advisories.

I'm confused. Aren't "vehicle inspection" = "vehicle check", and "service due = engine oil"?

Also, could the brake wear sensor be wrong?

In any case, it'll need taking to a garage in June.

vehicle check is different to vehicle inspection (MOT) on mine

Anyway spent ages changing the brake booster pipe sensor in situe on the m3 today. Fiddly and many extensions and glue gun to hold screws on as it’s right under the master cylinder. I finished it taking care not to drop the screws then as I finished the last extension fell off into the power cable hole so now need to work out how the hell to find that. ABS sensor changed too so no more engine or warning lights. Just a bloody tool to fish out.

Vehicle inspection is MOT. You can change the date yourself to what it should be.

Vehicle check is the thing usually done with the major service, every second oil service.

There is no way the last engine oil reset was May 21, if it is saying next is due April 24.

I'm guessing you bought the car some point after April 22, and someone reset all the service indicators (possibly doing all the service items, although sounds like they wouldn't have changed brake pads).

I indeed bought it in April 22. I vaguely recall the indy dealer saying they would do an oil change before selling it, so maybe they did it, but I didn't.

Problem for you is they reset everything.

Check if the 2021 service was a major service, including spark plugs and had the vehicle check done. If it did, then you are fine with just an oil service in 2022.

In 2024 just make sure you do the oil + spark plugs + vehicle check service.

I reckon your brake fluid hasn't been changed since 2020, even though it was reset in 2022.

Yep. Work and cost listed in the 2021 service confirms it was a major.

Whats makes you say that about the brakes? The 2020 service was at the same indy but i don't have the papaerwork for it.

On top of the oil service, I'll get a vehicle check done too for my peace of mind, esp as it'll confirm how the brakes are.

Thanks btw.
