BMW and M Power Owners

Is this connected to the massive airbag scandal?
Had the letter for my 2015 F11 5 Touring today.

No date yet...got to wait for 2nd letter.
It could be. It's especially heartwarming to read that it could explode with too much force, possibly leading to injury or death, but please wait another few months until you're contacted.

Update regarding my ATM issue on my 440i.

It arrived from the dealer, installed it and yep, doesn't work.

E-Sys can see it. ProTool can see it.
I can code it.
A Reflash to stock settings fails every time.

Looks like it's either faulty or possibly water damaged. Most likely why it was removed in the first place.

Anyway, solutions I have available to me are:
1. Buy a second hand ATM unit, have it coded to function in my car.
2. Buy a brand new ATM unit from BMW, have them code it.

Pros and cons of each.
Second hand pro
1. Second hand is cheaper (250 vs 800)
2. Can have one within days
3. GPS Is guaranteed to work again
Cons
1. Conflicting information on what functions are kept... some say all, some say as it's VIN locked you loose all the BMW fancy things such as WiFi hotspot, bmw tracking, assist.. etc.

New Pro
1. 100% will rectify the issue. All features will function as intended.
Con
1. Very expensive vs the Second hand option.
2. Possibly weeks lead time on getting one.
3. BMW to code it. Their fees are unknown.

So yea. Not really sure which route I'm going to take.
I'd very much like to be able to use the latest BMW maps whilst also getting the traffic functionality as it's intended. But I'd also rather spend the extra £££ on sorting some paint work blemishes.

What would you pick?

Not massively useful but this is why when buying expensive cars, I buy them from dealers with full warranty in the hope I have some chance of them sorting these sort of issues.

Perhaps bite the bullet and let the dealer sort it?

Hmmm... I do have a warranty with them. I'll give them a call.

will wifi/sim be 4G compatible if it did work (is there a date on 3g service end). ... so maybe you are not loosing too much.

Yea, it's 4G.
In theory I'd just need to pay the subscription and BMW would reactivate the Sim card that matches the cars VIN. Which unfortunately would only happen if I bought a brand new ATM unit from BMW. (As far as the information says anyway...)
And anyway, I have my phone, so the HotSpot really isn't needed. I just want the GPS working tbh.

Don't mention you've done any of that either; but this needs to squarely be solved by the dealer.
Not going to happen. I bought the car knowing there was an issue with the stock GPS system. Of course, the extent of the issue is now only making itself apparent. And to be honest, if I just used an IPhone and the car play... its a total non issue.
However, I would like to use the stock GPS system, so I can get the HUD to show navigation too. So I'll rectify it either the cheap way, or the expensive way. I'm yet to decide.
The 3rd party warranty starts in a couple weeks. I'll give them a bell late June to mention the issue and see if it's covered.

Does Android or iPhone integrate nav directions into the HUD anyway? Or are you planning on solely using the BMW nav?

Ah right. Sack it off @Diagro, the integrated directions aren't worth it if it ties you to the hot garbage that is OEM navs.
I'm leaning towards that every moment hahaha.
I just found a £47 ATM unit from a 2016 x5 on the Bay.
I can get it coded to free, so worth a gamble to see if GPS comes back.
If not for anything else but ensuring GPS works for the next owner in a few years.

As long as it doesn't balls up all your other things like you indicated it may. It's a problem for several years down the line when you part X it and the buying dealer doesn't check that hard ;)

18 months left on my 128ti and my local BMW dealer has just offered me a new M135i for £50 a month extra. My balloon payment should I choose to keep it at the end is 18.5k and they have valued mine at 23.5k (motorway are offering me 26.5k at the moment). I do like my current car but wouldn't be keeping it at the end of the 4 years. I guess it depends how much more it depreciates over the next 18 months as to whether it's worth changing it up now or not? I don't think think the M135i is much of an upgrade though other than that 1 second on the 0-60, I do quite fancy an M240i but think that might be quite a bit more of a jump in monthly's. Do 3rd party lease companies typically offer better deals than mainline dealers?

Is the M135i the LCI version or an 'old' one?
