My steering wheel stolen. Quite sad to see so many steering wheels and airbags on ebay.
I'm guessing a lot of these sellers buy these stolen wheels/aibags and sell them on.
I decided against it, it's a 4h round trip and as you say the weather doesn't look amazing. Going to drink beer and watch the F1 and Rugby instead.
Try telling that to me when I woke up this morning.Sensible decision with that drive I think
Thanks for the recommendation RE dmworx. They have identified the fault and it's getting fixed today, they seem nice and very efficient.DMWorx are a very established and safe bet. What BMW is it? If it's a more performance oriented one, then swift performance, literally on the same estate, is an even better bet. The owner used to be the co-owner of dmworx, but split the performance business away and specialises in M cars/track prep etc now.
I stopped going to dealers when I bought my 2015 428i two years ago. As long as receipts are kept to show regular servicing and oil changes I don't see why anyone would mind at that age. Although if you have the BMW extended warranty it could be advantageous to get it serviced at BMW as they might identify any issues and arrange to get them fixed there and then through the warranty. Thanks for the recommendation RE dmworx. I have a couple of other faults that I'm going to get them to fix another time; handbrake needs to be pulled too hard, and the windscreen washer is not squirting properly!
I have a service due for break fluid and engine oil. I have always had this kind of thing done at Syntner Tring, as my understanding is you want that kind of thing done at a official dealership to maintain the value of the car. At what point in time is this no longer true? The car is a 2014 335, with 65000 miles, and is still worth something. If I had the break fluid and engine service done at an independent specialist like Dmworx, am I really going to be decreasing the value of the car?
Not really expensive, cost me £20 to have an airbag error message that could only be removed by a dealership..Well BMW felt like it is necessary for the airbag error to remain even after installing a brand new airbag.
Standard OBD devices (I was using OBDLink) aren't able to remove the error, as its not a standardised OBD2 error code. I'd have to go buy a much more expensive one which could deal with BMW specific error codes. Stuff like Bimmerlink and Carly would not have worked either.
Fortunately because I had an MHD device for changing ECU maps, it has a function to remove all DME errors which also luckily cleared this.

Out of interest, was that for a genuine ZF kit including oil? Good price if so.I'm doing it myself on the drive soon.
Paid £180 for the kit. (New Pan and oil)

Yes, in ebay from euro gearbox parts.Out of interest, was that for a genuine ZF kit including oil? Good price if so.
I ended up aiding £648, which included oil, filter & sumppan along with labour.
One off job which I'll never need doing again so not too fussed about the price & was happy with the level of service from a "new" garage to me.
Definitely isn't 96.I can't remember the figure but once a car reaches a certain age it becomes ULEZ compliant.
is that because the owner got supplementary data from bmw sufficient for exception on that unique plate vehicle - per earlier discussion hereThis 1996 740i is ULEZ compliant...
That's what I'm thinking... a colleague of mine did this for a Boxster S V plate.is that because the owner got supplementary data from bmw sufficient for exception on that unique plate vehicle - per earlier discussion here
(& doubt ming will propagate that exclusion across all vehicles of same type)

ThanksFor simple things like engine oil, brake fluid and consumables you're usually paying a hefty premium it makes sense to use a reputable independent/specialist, particularly as the car gets older and mileage increases.
I live locally to Dmworx but out of convenience have used ProTech in Fleet Marston for over a decade. Funnily enough I enquired about a diff bush with Swift recently as it will need doing soon having spotted a small split.
I couldn't find your original post with the problem but had a 335 myself and wheel speed sensor failures caused all manner of symptoms.
Anyone had a KDS 4 wheel alignment done at a BMW dealer recently, if so how much did you pay? Or is somewhere else with Hunter equipment just as good?
