BMW and M Power Owners

I was talking about the head up display you said was missing.

It just didn't have it and I forgot to check, only realised during the test drive. I was a derp!

Useless not having it :D

Why? Surely it's good as when you are buying a used car, you get the opportunity to add features that are missing. It's a rare option anyway, it's always been difficult to find a used BMW with it fitted.

It would be great if I could add it to mine for £750!

Yeah, it would be nice to have it on them all, as hardly any have driving assistance pro. Would be a worthwhile upgrade, but I think I was just in such a mood at this car being overpriced and missing HUD :D

Is there anywhere that tracks exactly what BMW remove from cars, and when?

I nearly got an ix 50 MSport in January, but found out it was one of the cars they stripped the air suspension and rear wheel steering off, which came as standard when the car launched.

Didn't really fancy a 2.5 Tonne SUV on 22" wheels with coil sprung suspension

A good deal came up again for one recently, which would definitely have iDrive 8.5, but it looks like BMW completely removed air suspension from all ix's now, except the ix M60.

Tried contacting BMW UK customer service over a week ago and not had a reply.

I understand about the semi-conductor shortage, but I find it mad you can launch a car for Journalists to review, and then strip out of the key features for everyone else.

I spent some considerable time tracking down an M340i Touring which had all the options I wanted. It did take a while, and it was tricky to get the options I wanted on the car to match up with my preferred colour, a reasonably low mileage and for sale at the right price. I did finally manage to track one down and bought it earlier this year. Although it wasn't local and had to be brought up here to Scotland from Hertfordshire. But I'm glad I had the patience to wait :)

That said, Driving Assistant Pro is quite useful at times but I wouldn't say I use it an awful lot to be honest. I use it in stop/start traffic sometimes where it takes the strain a little. The HUD however, I love. Didn't think it would bother me too much not to have it, but I'm certainly glad I have it now. Same with the laser lights and heated steering wheel.........its things like these that you imagine might be quite superfluous but actually once you use them you realise how handy they are! :D

Thanks for making me feel better, mine is the same specification as yours but without the driving assistant professional package or the electric seats :D

To be honest, I've used the electric seats once when I first got the car, to adjust it to suit my preferred seat position. Haven't touched it since :D

I assume they have memory though?

Because anytime you might use a hand car wash service, or get it services at a dealer or something, they always mess about with the seat setting and pressing that one button and getting the seat back exactly as you like it is so useful

My seats are electric except for manually sliding back and forward. They don't have memory either. I've never found this a hindrance or a nuisance (my last car had a similar set up) though fully electric seats with memory is very much a nice to have. Of all the (few!) gimmicks my car has, the HUD is by far the most useful so make sure any Beemer you get has it.

PS BMW support are crap. Waiting over a week for a reply is the norm

Good point, although I've never had the occasion to have to use it as yet. Driver seat has memory, passenger doesn't.

Just had a thought about something else I've never used yet - parking assistant plus.

Driving Assistant Professional is an interesting one, it's great on the motorway/dual carriageway, and some larger A roads, but outside of that it's a bit hit and miss.

It's nice to have but I could live without it. It does get caught out at times so you always have to monitor it. It picks up a lot of slack with steering, once you've had it on for a while and then turn it off, the steering feels heavier and more tiring. It's a subtle thing but you do notice it. Obviously it's very good in crawling traffic too.

In your old age do you forget where you have your seat? :P
