BMW and M Power Owners

Does anyone know where to get a tool to remove push rivets on an F11? I bought a trim removal kit from Amazon but unfortunately none of the tools are thin enough to get between the outer and inner parts or the push rivets.

I unfortunately have water getting into one of my adaptive headlights which has caused the sidelights and front indicator to stop working, with less than a month until my MOT’s due. Hoping I can remove some trim and identify where the leak is.

OK, remove the childrens electric car and get a fun weekend car to take the 2nd garage spot :p:D

I do love this colour, deep reds really are the best.

BMW iX50, courtesy car whilst they do my end of new car warranty checks.

Will post more thoughts later, but having done 200 or so miles in it so far, broadly: it's ugly. It's much better than I expected but is about twice the price it should be, does not feel like a £110k car, and it has much less cargo space and less legroom than the smaller model Y. I'd say it's worth 20k max over the Y due to the nicer seats and better self-driving etc, not nearly double!

My iX arrives in about 4 weeks :)

On the price - the 50 is priced quite high but a larger battery and 500bhp justifies that.
Legroom - there is much more of this in the back than in the Y
Plus, it’s built much better.

My last 9 cars have been BMWs, and I have never liked teslas, so believe me that my view isn't biased because my wife owns one! I went into driving it wanting to like it other than the looks, and in truth i did, but it just feels more like an X3 segment car with regards to the build quality and interior space.

It is (quite notably) slower than the Y with a similar range so the cost doesn't justify it on that basis alone.

There absolutely less room in the back of the iX, even if on paper it has more. I verified this last night by literally getting out of one and in to the other with the driver's seat set up the same position for me to drive it. The major difference is that there is a lot of space under the seat to put your legs on the Y, it's truly remarkably spacious for how small the footprint is.

It is a little bit better built, but definitely not "much" better, the door closing etc is worse than my g30, and there are some odd bits that feel cheaper. The seats don't have as much support as my car or an x5, which surprised me... actually more similar to. Tesla seats albeit definitely better. The proper dash is much nicer yes, and definitely having air suspension makes a big difference to the ride quality. The tech is better too.

In summary, I'd happily put 15-20k of value on the iX over the Y, but at 50k more the iX misses the mark massively from my 250 miles in it. It's a good car but it's priced like it should be x5 / x7 quality and it's not - the new i5 is a much much nicer place to be when you're spending that money!

This is just my view though, and I'm sure you won't be put out by it!

That iX is truly gopping. It's a pleasant enough place to sit, bit it's just a big ugly heavy expensive battery on wheels.

BMW seem to be feeling the pinch ala Porsche. £700 deposit contribution now on used cars if you take their generous 13.9% finance deal. Then an email came through saying they're keen to do business and find the "middle ground" after we put a derisory offer in on a car.

We're enjoying watching prices tumble at dealers as they fill up with stock they can't shift and don't want to take more stock in.

My how the tables have turned post-COVID :D

I'd listened to out of spec review of model 3 highland, his continual point of reference was against the iX for its superior noise suppression and ride - https://youtu.be/1XOHcC-T1pE
even the familiar discussion on ev range at 70mph is rather nullified if you can't hear yourself speak, wind noise secondary to economy is the reason I don't charge everywhere at 70+

e:that garage is looking a bit narrow for the iX but maybe it parks itself offcentre to leave room to open the door.
e2: suppose it's red sibling can park alone.

6 Series has large frameless windows too and closes fine..
Nice edit - the 8 series must either be:
1) not frameless
2) also garbage

Tbh though I was surprised when my pal had a Mini Cooper, what an absolute CRASH the doors made when shut. My pals 1 series (1st gen) is the same.

I purposely parked them both towards the centre, I can open both cars doors almost full on the inside edge, and more than enough space on the outside...there's nothing behind the pillar.

Wouldnt mind it being wider but it's not particularly tight!
