I don't like the looks, but I love the car (if that makes sense)

Was that a stock one or did you spec it up? Looks like you've got the optional 22" wheels.

I can't say I'm a fan of the Mocha interior though. My brother in law has an IX50 with the Castanea leather and that is lush.

Enjoy matey

A few options
  • 22" Individual wheels
  • Titanium bronze exterior trim
  • Sun protection glass
  • Clear & bold - glass crystal controls
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Parking Assistant Plus (for the 360 camera)
The standard spec is pretty decent - adaptive cruise, HUD, electric seats/mirrors, heated seats. I know this is basic stuff these days but many EV makers have these split out in different option packs

Still like the boot/lights - you'll have to tell us how it drives versus the polestar - does it feel much larger. ?

Yes, it rolls more in corners and you can sense/feel the larger size. The ride is very smooth though, I don't feel as many bumps/potholes and the silence in the cabin is amazing. I love the Hans Zimmer sounds too :)

Agreed - Heated steering wheel and Parking Assistant Plus are what I would have wanted on an IX. Crystal controls are 'meh' to me though. Style over substance.

What wheels did you have on the Polestar 2? I have the 19" wheels and they feel ok. I've seen journalists and people on Youtube say that 20" wheels are just too uncomfortable on the Polestar 2.

Even on the GV70 I didn't want the 20" wheels as the 19" ones just give you more sidewall. I once had a 2018 E Class estate with AMG bodykit and it had 20" wheels which were horrible over imperfections in the road. Weirdly it was comfortable on the motorway.

I'm getting to old man stage and would rather have a more comfy ride inside the car that sit outside going "Coooor those wheels fills those arches nicely"

"I am emailing you regarding a planned delivery for tomorrow 12th December. We have already sent a pre delivery email to you today. Unfortunately I do have to give you some bad news and we are not going to be able to deliver the vehicle to you as planned tomorrow. We have had an update from BMW this morning that a large number of i5 vehicles have been put on a delivery stop due to a recall. The recall is to do with the Receiver Audio Module, and at this time there is not a fix."

Not super news. Anyone else affected or know anything?

I did read somewhere that the external reversing sound, which is a legal requirement on EV's wasn't working? Could be something to do with that.

Does anyone know why its a requirement? I get that electric cars are silent, but at very low speed when reversing most petrol cars are effectively silent as well.

searching for 'Receiver Audio Module' shows this interrupting deliveries for a few different BMW models for a couple of years now, depending on location

I already appreciate it is a requirement. I am just confused as to why it isn't a requirement on similarly quiet petrol powered vehicles. There are loads of very quiet engines which make effectively no noise when reversing.

The noise some of the electric cars make when reversing is quite annoying and the sound carries much further than you'd think.
