BMW and M Power Owners

Tried the new 5 Series for the day, specifically an i5 40 M Sport Pro. Somewhere in the region of £80,000 with a few minor options. Not xDrive, surprisingly.

Overall it's very impressive as you'd expect, the interior is lovely, let down by a few small things such as the window switches feeling very cheap and out of place - but they do the job.

The Hans Zimmer sounds playing through the speakers are very cool but can probably get a bit repetitive. New iDrive seems unnecessarily complicated compared to the previous version I'm used to, iDrive 7. An awful lot of stuff you'll never use.

Range seemed ok, looks like it'll realistically do around 280-320 miles at least, which isn't terrible. Unless you want an EV, the 550e is probably better.

Despite being quite well specced, it had half-electric seats, which is a bit silly on a car of this value. No driving assistant stuff either.

White isn't really the best colour for it... not when you can get Tanzanite Blue for a grand. I don't think the car as a whole photographs very well, it looks better in real life, honest...

I persuaded our Ops director to have a go in an i5, he went in and when they said they had a handful of i5 M60 launch editions with a few options packs for less than £750pm as a company car he took the plunge, should be here 1st March and looking forward to borrowing that for some business trips!

said goodbye to my 430D today, dropped it at the dealership this morning. Was quite sad to see it go as it's been an excellent motor.

On the plus side picked up my new to me M440i at the same time. :)

Hi guys,
Were planning another Euro trip and I'm looking to get a spacesaver in case of a issue in the Pyranees. Last year we did 6000 miles without incident, Until the last day when entering the carpark of our hotel in Pamplona. I had the lightest brush with the Kerb going into the carpark and sliced the sidewall.

Had a nightmare the next day finding tyres and a mad mad rush to get to the ferry.....

I'd rather not repeat that again (I know, Just avoid kerbs etc etc lol)

has anyone found a decent spacesaver that would clear the gold calliper's on a M5Comp with Carbon Brakes

Ta
Matt

Does anyone know how to turn off RTTI when listening to music? I disabled it under the navigation menu hoping that was it but it still does it when listening to music. I’ve googled it and it was supposed to be under apps/media/settings but it doesn’t exist on this version. @mattyg any ideas as this is on a 21 plate M5 comp

RTTI (real time traffic information) isn't the same as the radio interruptions I don't think.

Found this online but sounds like you've already tried it - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VrQon7vouI

I'll take some tomorrow when the light is better

As promised, weather quite nice this morning if a little chilly!

Think I've finished messing with settings etc.

Tomorrow got a breakfast meet which usually has a good turn out of cars, so hopefully can show off the new car.
Pity I've got to wait until the V5 comes through to put my personal plate on but hey-ho, 1st world problems & all that.

That colour looks lovely and it'll absolutely come alive in the summer
Saw one yesterday - very nice indeed. It had black wheels too though, which was a shame as I think any other colour would really finish it off nicely

It was the colour that sold it to me.

Amazed at how good on fuel it was driving back home yesterday.
Admittedly was only doing 70ish & messing around with the tech on the car using ecopro & the drive assist but averaged 45mpg over 100+ miles

I'm not as fussed about black wheels as some, but as & when they require a refurb I might look into changing the colour.
My old wheels were a gunmetal colour which I really liked.

That colour looks amazing. Silver alloys would look so much better though.

Brilliant, thanks Kenai, I hadn’t tried that so hopefully that’s fixed it as it was driving me mad. Thanks again
Remember to turn RTTI back on too in the nav settings or you'll be back here complaining it keeps navigating you into traffic jams :p

Don't turn it off because it isn't the problem.

It's the traffic announcements that you need to switch off, it has a physical button next to the radio presets. It's completely unrelated to real-time traffic information.

It switches to the radio when it detects that a radio station is broadcasting traffic information, even my old Mondeo had that :D

Yeah you want RTTI on but switch off the radio thingy... Bottom left on the radio controls.. Looks like an aerial thingy (two cars and an aerial)

The standard M340i and M440i wheels are diamond cut and grey, to match the mirrors and the front grille. I think this is the best look for the car, but the problem is that it's quite difficult to find a car with a good specification which doesn't also include the pack that changes everything from grey to black. Most of the cars which still have the grey wheels/trim are basic specification cars without many other options packages and most cars with every package also have the black wheels etc.

This is why it took me 3 months to find the right M340i because I really wanted the standard wheels.

This is mine:

Had a 2023 330e tourer as a courtesy car for a couple of days, love the later version of the Idrive on the FL G20, got back into my 2020 saloon and it instantly felt old :p Felt great having the space of an Estate aswell.

Had a good mooch around the current EV offerings from BMW, the smaller IX range were surprisingly quite nice to drive and felt quite big, the I4 is a great car but quite small for my family duties. Ive got a test drive setup for the I5, it looked akward in the aticles id read, but in real life its quite a smart looking car.
