BMW and M Power Owners

M3T prices appear to be in free fall, AUC prices for low mileage UP cars went from £100k to £75k in the past 3 months. I'll likely get one when they're 3/4 years old if I can find a well optioned one in an individual colour.

I think all performance cars will go a similar way. My X5M50i insurance has gone up 41% this year and with car tax is now around £730, there will be a lot of people who just cant afford or want to run them anymore.

I still have my warranty, from what I've read the GTS doesn't show up as it's still OEM software, it's engine tuning that flags up right away on ISTA. It'll probably bite me in the backside but from my experience so far it's worth it.
You have bigger cajones than me then

GTS racechip??

That will still flag the S0777 code. As the parameters will have gone outside of the OEM range.

Same with the mperformance flash I had done. OEM software, not a tune
My understanding is if it's the DME that's unlocked & messed with, that will flag ISTA and if you have any work done you need to downgrade the I-Level software to an earlier version and revert to stock. An engine tune would need the DME unlocking and that's how they track it. The TCU module which is flashed as part of the GTS map is not locked and you can easily revert if required.

Of course there is risk, there is with any modding, but for me the tradeoff is worth it. I came very close to selling the car due to how poor DCT is in slow traffic, it became nearly underivable in lower temperatures especially when it was wet.

I guess regulators have a harder lifetime on frameless windows like his apparent 3GT - do they all jog a bit when you open the door.

...
audi phev's - VAG are updating phev battery sizes new passat will have 20Kwh, for eu 100KM autonomy tax break, so maybe this will filter through to audi suv's
Yeh they take a bit of battering so you'd think they'd make them better.

Surely it's at least £150 less than that on your car? Why would it be £730?

It will be standard rate plus the additional rate for being over £40k list price?

are there any good dct's (vag et al) that are smooth in slow traffic - it just a poor solution for reducing emissions, I thought many of the us versions of eu vag's had torque convertors to boot.
Is WLTP really representative of modern traffic flow, probably not the 90% of time I spend on A roads.

saying that MrRockliffes take down of ZF's roundabout experience etc. reduced my inclination to get that either.

Still weighing up options, I have a lot of equity in it and I know the sensible decision is to pay off/get a loan for the balance but part of me just wants a new toy :D

The only improvement with a new one is the newer version of idrive, in some other areas it is either the same car or isn't as good as the one you have now so if you you want something new I'd get something new, if you want an M340i I'd keep the one you have.

They have just put a further £140 on top of that due to emissions from April this year. Mines just into the highest emission band.

Ah, the way I was reading all the news articles was they were hitting existing vehicles. So if i understand now its only going up by £10 for cars already registered?

I think it's going from £180 plus £390 expensive car supplement, to £190 plus £410 expensive car supplement - so it'll probably be £30 more than it would have been last year.

But you also end up with having to use the screen for heating controls. And you can no longer quickly adjust the distance to the car in front on the adaptive cruise, among other things.
These things aren't upgrades are they? :(
