BMW and M Power Owners

Ok I think autotraders search is abit glitchy.
There is no 1.8 litre diesel engine available in the 2 series Coupe, so I am not sure what it is you are seeing.

The 140 or 150bhp 2 litre is the 218d and the 180-190bhp is the 220d, with power dependent on the engine type.

I can see 50 manual 220d coupe on auto trader..

Spent the evening searching again

Concluded market still hasn't recovered. Overpriced. Especially when I still don't trust things like catastrophic failures to take in to consideration.

I have a set budget of upto 10k stretching to 11 maybe

That certainly doesn't work for me.

Not sure if something is different in that regard between a 2019 3 series (where it can be permanently disabled) to a 2020 1 series or 2022 2 series (where it can't)

It's something to do with achieving 5 Star NCAP ratings I think, not being able to permanently disable such systems. Possibly something that changed around 2020?

What I found is that you need to set it up by pressing the car button with the red circle around it in this image (not mine):

If you set it to your individual setting, which has the lane assist disabled, it sticks.

From Euro NCAP Assessment Protocol v9.0.3 June 2020

6.3.3 Emergency Lane Keeping (ELK)
From 2020 onwards, to be eligible for scoring points in ELK, the ELK part of the LSS system needs to be default ON at the start of every journey and deactivation of the system should not be possible with a momentary single push on a button.

Thanks for that, so it seems that for newer cars coding it out is the only option. And if you have an older version of the iDrive firmware, hope that an OTA update doesn't force the ELK to re-enable itself every time you start the car.

Mine is tail end of 2019 so maybe that's why it sticks. It feels like more of a nuisance than a safety feature.

Unrelated, I managed to partially charge the car overnight but I think there's a conflict somewhere between the car, the BMW app, and the OVO app, which should control the charger. Really boosted my MPG having some electricity in there, though!

I went out to the car around lunch time to get something from the boot and, weirdly, it seemed to be cooling the interior. I have no idea how or why that would have happened.

You can set it to do this remotely from the app, or on a timer (from within the car, or the app). If you didn't do it, then perhaps a timer is set in the car.

I did it on all three! So I decided there might be a conflict and have now set it to charge immediately in the app, which I believe has been sent to the car. The OVO app is scheduled for 00:00 to 07:00, so I'm hoping that'll do it.

Have you considered indicating when changing lanes? :D

Haha I do always indicate, except when there's not really anyone around me!! I used to be one of those people that indicated even if no one was around, and flash people who didn't indicate, but I got over that. When people are near, definitely. When you're on the motorway and no one's around you, no point.

I have a clean license and I don't intend to change that!
