BMW and M Power Owners

How badly overpriced is this car? Or is the mileage a good justification for that price tag?

It is quite expensive but it's also one of the rare cars before the facelift that had iDrive 7. I doubt that'll make much difference to its value but it's a reason I'd pick it over another, although that particular doesn't have the visibility package.

Nah, makes 0 difference tbh.

Well it will a bit as it'll mean its a bit newer (all 5 Series manufactured after late 2019 have it) and it should make a difference to you, as well. It makes it feel much more modern and the functionality is better.

My dad is on a lookout, he won't use 80% of the accessories tbh with you.

Made a few queries around m340i's but they seem to be selling as they're landing, even asked to look around one in prep and it was sold.
No doubt if i up the budget i'll be able to grab one but my budget is a budget for a reason, I'm not skinting myself over a car. Quite a lot of e model cars for sale which would work with my home charger but was suprised how much of the boot they loose, even the 5 series estate has 430 litres which is smaller than a normal 3 series.
Having a quick look around there's a 540i which seems well specced (Comfort Pack, M Sport Pro Pack, Premium Package) which has what looks like the 3 series tech pack as part of its standard features.
(link here: link) only thing i don't like is the spoiler, i have a dynamic spoiler on mine and i really can't see it being needed.
Had a look on carwow for a review but nothing on there.

I’ll be off loading my M340i in December, need to find out what BMW are actually offering as I suspect they’re lowballing me with trade in currently

Looks like my BMW ownership is delayed. My i5 landed in the country on 22nd July. Currently sat at the dealers in "pre-registration" waiting a part replacement for the braking system recall before they'll release it. They're prioritising cars already on the road so can't give me a date when mine will be ready! :(

.... They made literally no preparation to have the car ready to view, and were quite funny about me taking it for a drive. Dealers seem to think cars sell themselves.

Yes, seems to be complacency still around from covid days where they had it so good they do not want to go back to normality.

I have viewed a few AUC cars over the past couple of months at main retailers and its the same line rolled out every time "Our prices are firm, we have a team of skilled sales people tracking prices daily" or guff to that effect. I went to view a £40K+ car a couple of months back, filthy it was with just a few mm spare on all 4 tyres, got the usual spiel so walked and left the sales guy standing there.

How much are you expecting? :D I need to replace the E43 with a tourer of some description. I have an ID7 on order but I'd rather poke my eyeballs out.

An interesting comparison.

An M340i will have a less luxurious interior, a bit less interior space, but be a bit quicker, more efficient and drive better. But there is no question that in some respects it will be a step down from an E43 AMG.

And iDrive is much better than the Mercedes system unless your car is a facelift :D

Unfortunately insurance is coming up at $lol costs... even compared to the E43 surprisingly (30% more). I am so nervous I might end up with an ID7. I put the E43 onto Motorway yesterday (or at least I think I did, I've had no confirmation) - if I get lowballed there, then options open up a bit.

I've got over 10 years no claims and think it worked out around 850 a year on a m340i. Bit over 1k on a tesla though so it's not completely mental.

Not sure why I am getting dinged so hard. They want £1300 for Aviva, or closer to £800 by some of the more no-name companies I'd like to avoid. I'm also 10 years and in a low risk postcode.

Blimey that’s a lot. I’m only paying £1,000 on a Boxster with 4 years NCB and previous accident (non fault) and 3 points.

I’m not so sure to be honest. My dad spent a while debating on E43s and he decided Mercs weren’t for him.

The reason being that while it looked nice, every car he drove felt quite cheap. Lower quality plastics than expected, very little sound deadening, poorer infotainment and the maintenance costs were on par/more than his M5 at the time.

I had a similar experience with C63s when I looked. They just felt a little bit cheap when comparing to Audi/BMW equivalents.

That being said, I’m not sure I’d bother with the costs and time involved with changing out of an E43. Still a great car and the BMW would be a sideways step in many situations.

However the urge for change is strong and if you were set on something new, the M340i is about as good as it gets.

It might be worth trying a broker.
Adrian Flux wanted £2.5k...! Couldn't believe it.

I reckon coming from an M5 to an E43 was always going to be super odd. E classes varely from "Taxi spec" to decent - the difference in materials is stark. Mine is ebony wood veneer and all leather with matching stitching. Infotainment is hit and miss occasionally but I use a wireless Android Auto dongle.

Reason for swap is bigger boot/more accessible boot space (i.e. tourer).
