BMW and M Power Owners

After thinking about getting an M135i/M140i at some point in the next few months, I've unexpectedly ended up in a 435D! Liking the performance and mix of comfort/speed, but amazed at how bad the base stereo sound quality is compared to my 20 year old Volvo! Unsure how long term it'll be as saving for a house at the moment, but couldn't say no at the price....

Will try get some pictures sometime when the weather isn't crap

What is your average mileage? Will the 435D have any DPF issues if under say 5k miles? Did it not come with HK? This should have been standard.

DPF is a potential concern because of my short commute at the moment (< 2 miles), but I do plenty of longer trips so yearly average is about 16k

Doesn't have HK, looking at 2014 brochure business and HK were both upgrades

My car is approaching 40k miles without needing a brake pad change. The CBS has been on 3k/4k miles (rear/front) for ages now (presumably waiting for sensor to trip). The car has had multiple vehicle health checks with BMW. In the short video you get, the guy always says, plenty left on the pads and shows them.

I'm now wondering how on earth I got through front pads in less than 15k miles on my last car (Mazda 3).

BMW pads just thicker?

Are BMW head office usually responsive? As mentioned previously in this thread, i've had an i5 M60 Touring ordered since March, it arrived in the country on 22nd July and has been sat at Vertu in Sunderland since then waiting for the brake system and steering spindle recall to be carried out. I've spoken to Vertu and my lease company and all they can say is they are waiting for parts and they have escalated with BMW to try to get a date for the parts to become available. Wondered if an email direct to BMW UK would help speed things up or do they just go into a black hole of nothingness. Have to say, it's my first time ordering a BMW (can't even say first time owning/using one yet...) and it's not been the best experience of my car ownership life...
So after a couple of discussions on the BMW webchat and with Vertu i now have a delivery date of 3rd January! Happy New Year to me! :D

Six months? I wonder what software updates and changes have been made in that time? I’d be asking for a gesture of goodwill and, I’d imagine, the car would have been sitting outside, likely rarely washed or even started. A professional detail would be something I’d be pushing for.

I’m looking to get aftermarket tints in the rear and boot of my M340i touring, and I’m hoping to match the sun protection glass tint. I don’t suppose anyone knows what kind of tint % I should go for to achieve that? I contacted a local tinting company and they recommended a 20% tint (i.e. 20% light transmission) which seemed like it would be very dark.

Thanks @Maccy. So if I were to go for 50% tints combined with the already c.80% standard window tint, I guess that would be me into the sun protection glass range somewhere (c.40%)?

I don’t think there’s any tints there because yours doesn’t haven’t sun protection glass. You can in theory go as dark as you like on the back windows, but looking at the above it’s anywhere from roughly 60-80% tint?

E92 passed MOT today, but alignment couldn't be adjusted as seized (I fitted Eibachs to replace the similar height but harder H&R springs - fitted new drop links for MOT) so need to sort that, odd as same place did alignment back in May before Combe. Got Spa booked in April so good incentive to get it sorted and not sitting around!

As it needs more power (obviously) for Spa ive asked local specialist about primary decats and remap. 10% gains everywhere and hopefully close to 450hp, with a bit more noise.

I am looking to get my wheels painted on the 330e...

I think the diamond cut look makes them seem a little "spindly"

Found a guy who did it on the same wheel, and I think it looks great, see attached..

I personally like the look of the diamond cut finish, but understand it isn’t to your taste

In my experience, a satin finish is the nicest on these style of wheel, having had a few cars with different finishes.

Once my 3 series wheels are curbed, I’ll be going for a satin silver exactly as the picture you’ve attached.

I’m honestly just glad you’re not going for gloss black :P

The table shows that normal windows have about an 80% light transmission and sun protection glass is about 40%, so I thought an additional 50% tint would give me 40% (80% x 50%), but I’m not sure if it works in that way!
