BMW and M Power Owners

At every shell around here, its standard unleaded prices are 2ppl more than everywhere else and then on top of that the Vpower is 10ppl more than that.

M5 wheels are lovely.

I keep looking at E39 M5's, a lot of car for the money nowadays.
The E60 just seems to me like it's far to complex for it's own good? And doesn't seem to be held in a high regard as the E39.
What sort of money is needed for a good one, prices seem to be all over the show.

Definitely buy on condition and maintenance over mileage at this age now?

This one seems to have been for sale for ages but has some nice bits fitted to it:

Oh god, those seats....That wood *Vomits*, not fussed on the wheels either, but apart from that, lovely car but seems a lot of money a 13year old car, add a few k and can get a nice 335i.

Interior is a bit Marmite ( disgusting IMO but I know some like the whole wood affair), the exhausts, whilst undoubtedly expensive and probably sound great will also put people off, as with what I assume are replica ( though i like them) wheels with Fallen tyres which are not really what I would expect to find on an m5 - especially one commanding decent money

Not sure what info anyone needs, its a 2001 M5 with 133k on the clock.

Doesn't really have any extras apart from a nav system. It has some mods like powerflex bushes, short shift kit and a remus exhaust which apparently was fitted at the supplying dealer from new.

Has stacks of paperwork though, 11ks worth of receipts from the previous owner who had it from 2005.

Needs some corrosion repairing though, and a new pair of rears which I've found for £125 each for Sport contacts.

My initial hestiation when buying it was that it will just be like my e39 sport 99% of the time. It has a completely different feel to any other 5 series I've driven.

Sooo... What's the actual difference between them? I'm just wondering why Vpower is 10ppl more than regular, and Tesco 99 is only 5ppl

Won't be raw material cost giving that difference. But Tesco will be made by greenergy and likely to use as much ethanol as they can for octane. Both specs do have 5% max for ethanol though.

Didn't have the best weekend with the e39...

Replaced my tensioner pulley as the old one was screwed but unfortunately the new one seems a tiny bit loose once fitted, I have no idea why.

Found that my power steering fluid leak is getting worse, I'll have to replace the hose I think but more investigation necessary. I also have a new oil leak. Joy.

To top it all, I noticed that one of my bleed screws was weeping slightly. Turns out it was cracked around the top and it snapped in two when I tried to tighten it. BMW replacement price: AU$11. ELEVEN DOLLARS FOR A TINY BIT OF PLASTIC.

my bottom expansion tank bleed screw just sheered in half the first time I went to touch it - luckily there's so little torque applied to them that it was a doddle to get out. Think it was about £7 for the replacement so not far off what they're asking for something similar over there.

Annoying considering things like the filter housing gasket is about £2, but it's still only a few quid
