Ok well I dont want it to look chav but I also dont want it to look yellow as Im trying to get the car to look as fresh as possible given its nearly 10 years old now. 5000k sounds right.

4300k doesn't look yellow at all really. 5000k may be closer to natural daylight (6500k) but where headlights are concerned the output has a blue tint to it from certain angles. 4300k doesn't.

And on the road it doesn't project a yellow beam either:

Oh for god sake you're making me look at 330ci's again, even though i'm also looking at Z4's.

Aye^

The xenon bulbs were replaced about 18 months ago. The factory bulbs were Osram branded, these are Philips. Both being 4300K of course.

While we're on the topic of the colour of lights, perhaps you guys could recommend me some nice bright white LEDs. I want one for my rear plate and boot, both 501. There's so many out there I don't know which will be good. I want ones that give the same light at the stock ones on new model BMW for example.

I am sometimes a bit blind but that cheaper set don't claim to be canbus compatible. You will therefore get errors from the car thinking the bulbs are out.
