BMW and M Power Owners

Received my bi-xenon retrofit projectors this morning for my E46. Should be a nice easy install by the looks of things and comes with the E46 OEM style shrouds. Just need to get hold of a 4300k/5000k HID kit, and some new lenses for the headlights as mine have odd stress marks on where I'm guessing someone's fitted some stupid bulbs.

3dr Auto, Estoril blue and Coral Red leather ;)

Blue paint and red leather is an awful combination unless you're leasing it.

Mineral grey and red leather looks amazing. I urge you to find photos of that configuration before ordering. Oh, and don't order it without the adaptive suspension.

I believe blue outside and red inside is known as the 'superman' combo. But not to my tastes personally :)

135 is excellent though you won't regret the choice of car

Gaygle, hope you get it sorted - keep us posted!!!

Will do, currently sitting at a BMW dealer awaiting their "investigation" of my overheating issues. I'm hoping it all goes smoothly, but wouldn't be surprised if they tried to blame it on the type of aftershave i wear or something.

Coral red + grey = Good
Coral red + black = Better
Cream leather + Estoril Blue = Best

Thanks for posting this. I plan to test drive one with in the next month or two. Seems as though this car is living up to the hype!

Can't wait.

M135i Test Drive

On Saturday I popped down to the local dealership up here and grabbed a test drive of the 135i. Their Auto demonstrator was away over the weekend so I unfortunately had to take the manual they had sitting around. But,

WHAT A CAR!!! :D

As you may know, I drive some rusty old 90s Honda Type-R, but after winding up the M135i for the first, I finally realised what I've been missing out on these last few years. This thing was a damn Exocet missile! The sound was sublime (added speaker noise or not) and the pure pace from low revs all the way up to the 7k redline was ballistic. Luckily the wether was terrible, keeping me in check.

The steering seriously impressed me, a surprise for an electric system and given how direct and beautiful the Integra's hydraulic steering is. It was direct, had ok feel to it and with the excellent low driving position, just felt 'right'.

Now, my bugbear............... The manual gearbox was a horrible PITA, with the changes feeling vague and it being incredibly hard to access or move the stick around 2nd/4th area due to the high armrest. I have long lanky arms and it ****ed me off no end and there's no way I could ever live with this car in a manual. Luckily I'm driving an Auto on Wednesday :D

Interior was nice enough, plenty of room with me at 6'2", driving position was stellar as I've mentioned before and wasn't a huge change from the lovely low position in the Teg. I just felt instantly at home in here.

To round off, after getting back to the dealership I honestly wondered how I could carry on living with the Integra. Especially with my commute being a pain on the cold Scottish mornings and having to deal with the horrible Dyce traffic daily.

I've done nearly 9k since April in my M135 - its a really good car and does the Jekyll and hyde thing really well. Its just as happy driving around the M25 as it is hammering it around the Nurburgring. Surprised to hear your thoughts on the manual, i have the auto so cant comment from experience but ive heard its the same box as the 1M which is meant to be good. Make sure you get the heated seats, HK pro nav and unspec the small display looks pants!

P.S Make sure you ditch the runflats

Does the tyre pressure monitoring system not freak out if you use non-runflats? I remember reading that somewhere when I was researching which tyres to replace my rears with.

No, its fine. The TPM uses the ABS sensor anyway, which basically only checks its speed against the other wheel on the axle. So as long as you have the same tyres on each side (which you will) then there's no problem.

First question I'm on the fence about:

1. Brushed Alu with Gloss black trim finisher.
2. Hex Alu with Gloss back trim finisher.

The hex looked nice in the demo car at the weekend, but the blue finisher didn't work with the coral red leather. I'm leaning towards the brushed Alu trim but am worried dents and scratches will be a lot easier to see and inflict than on the hex.

Love the combo and don't have to give a damn about resale value or selling it on. Always wanted a blue car and Estoril is lovely, loved the Red leather and like how it's only the seats and selected parts, both work well together from the photos I've seen and it's different. The only choice.

Hence me going for the Estoril Blue and Red Leather :D

Awesome cheers. With having a DC2, a manual really cannot get better. The box wasn't bad, it was just the movement of the stick and the access, which was horrible for me and felt awkward. Plus this is my day to day car and the Auto is perfect for the commute. Then when going out for a nice hoon, I can worry about my driving rather than trying to handle a horrible manual change. My Integra fulfills my manual desire.

Michelin SS come standard, but I'll make a note to ensure it's them on the car.

No choice in any spec guys, it's a base spec 3dr Auto with metallic paint. That's all I can choose along with the interior leather, trim and delete the side and rear badge.

I got in late to the silly cheap lease deals being offered and adding a few options would mean having to pay for them FULLY over the 2yrs, increasing the monthly lease cost by £200pcm  Plus coming from the Integra, Sat Nav and loads of other random options really don't matter to me at all, it's still a 5* hotel room in comparison :D

I'll handle the VTEC peasants, although I'm currently going to keep the Teg as I don't have the heart to sell, plus I spent too much rebuilding most of it. Will see if I can get her on a classic/future classic insurance policy when renewal is up in Feb and decide what to do with her later on in the year after Tour d'Ecosse around Scotland in May/June.

I don't get all this love for Grey and Black exterior. Seen a few up here last week and they just look boring and bland. Another boring dreary dark colour for this dreary city, siting in a car park full of black/grey/silver bogomobiles.

I'm not a standard boring kid of guy and don't even talk to me about cream leather, there's soo much of it and it looks hideous. I can imagine how dirty it would start to look from day one. Plus, I've always dreamed of flying around in a red cape.

1. Go with the hex, the brushed looks nasty IMO! With estoril the blue trim looks nice!

The auto really is worth every penny, everyone i have taken out in the car cannot believe how smooth it is whilst driving normally and then how fast it changes when pressing on - its instant !! It also makes a nice noise when changing up, a bit like a braaaaap which you don't get on the manual.

To give you an idea mine gets used for the boring work commute, going to meetings all around the country and then a yearly trip to the ring and hopefully a few track days !! It does everything so well, average fuel economy is around 20 - 23MPG on my short 5 mile commute to work but if i go to a meeting say 100 miles away and im happy to sit at 70 it will do 40+.

The gearbox is stunning, definately no point opting for a manual with these.

Awesome :)

The deal I got will be posted up once all is confirmed with the order, ready for your scathing comments.

Surprised no one has kicked off on that front, I am disappointed Motors :D

Adam check this forum if you haven't already -

You will find the answer to anything you need.

I've been waiting on a M performance exhaust since August last year with a German BMW dealership - im so fed up of waiting now ive pulled the plug but its a worthwhile upgrade. I test drove a car with one on at my local dealer and it pops and splutters like a mother ****** when you lift off :D

Cheers Sam. Your steed looks stunning! I won't have a handover like yours, apparently I can have it delivered directly to work, but will confirm that with the leasing company/BMW nearer the time. Would prefer dealer pickup so I can request they leave the protection strips on and don't attempt to valet the car badly!! Then I can get to work on a detail and get her protected.

Had a look over on babybmw, although they only came back online the other day.

Yeah, heard about the exhaust, must sound epic. Would love that along with the quaife LSD and remap to 370bhp from Birds, but thankfully I'm leasing so I cannot be tempted :D

What was your lease deal like?

I've been popping in and out of the pistonheads forum for the last month now just reading through the m135I threads.
