BMW and M Power Owners

Thanks Fox, I wasn't looking forward to completing the trip to be honest, but at £4k I would have gone and had a look. I understand what you're saying though.

I know it's not a fault but the dealer was trying to convince me that this was the best E46 you can buy, and there are few genuine examples left (a sentiment I agree with), and that no expense has been spared (clearly not, the tyres and suspension need changing).

E; I sold my E46 Saloon last May and last night I checked askMID to see if it was still insured, and it wasn't, so I text the guy who bought it from me and inquired...this is why;

:(

Anyone got an E46 330i/Ci for sale? :D

Maccapacca, did you sell the 530i?

Tbh going only from the ad 4 seemed a fair offer. Low mileage which would add a bit more value to it if its immaculate but if it needs 4 tyres there's an easy 5-600 to spend straight away on it.

Suspension you can't really count against it, they'll all need suspension work unless its just been done

Thinking about renewing mine as there's potential for me to be doing about 20k pa again soon and its kinf of feeling like it could already do with its second swap over

Mines been into a specialist today for the front shocks to be replaced, got a phonecall about 4 hours after I dropped it off to say they had been given standard chassis shocks and not the M sport ones grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr will hopefully get it back tomorrow now :)

Because it's a prefacelift E60, and they suck?

Unless you have a thing about crap plastics, rattly worn trim and bizarrely wierd interiors obviously.

Looking at potentially buying a new car for around 11k, seen this and love it http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif...iles/onesearchad/used,nearlynew,new?logcode=p - Is there anything I should know about this shape? Not entirely sure if it's the E92 or not as I lost track after E46 tbh.

Also love the idea of the 335i - http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif...iles/onesearchad/used,nearlynew,new?logcode=p
However, I can only afford SE spec or high mileage MSport for 11k so I don't think it's really an option as I want another MSport. Likely doing 12k miles a year in it so I guess SE won't be too bad but still I'd love to keep the fantastic handling that my current E46 has.

Looking at cars with under 60k miles too so that I can get the Comprehensive warranty - How much is it for a year again? I seem to recall seeing around £400 for a year or something on here?

The E92 335i SE has the MSport suspension as standard. On the E92 335i its really only cosmetic differences between the SE and MSport.

That one looks weird to me. Private seller but totally basic advert and all the photos taken in what looks like a dealer? Either old pics or somebody moving it on fast... do not like. Plus an E92 without iDrive is a bad buy IMHO, the interior is dull and 2 line monochrome radio displays are fine on £3k E46's but do not belong in £10k E92's. iDrive or don't bother, if tech doesnt interest you save thousands of pounds and buy an E46 :p

They are exactly the same. The only differences between the M Sport and the SE in 335i form are cosmetic. Bodykit, headlining, M badges, wheels, steering wheel is pretty much it. Mine was an M Sport, it handled the same as every SE I test drove because.. it is the same.

It's between £400 and £600 a year depending on the policy you opt for. The best value one, Comprehensive with no excess but no emergency service works out at about £48 a month. You are best paying monthly as it protects you from the price hike when your car goes over 60k.

Oh! Cheers for that advice, that helps a lot actually. What is the iDrive then? I've seen it mentioned, that and xdrive too, but never really paid attention to what it is.

That's actually pretty good really, for the security it gives you it's a complete no brainer imo.

Tech wise, I like the idea of having the sat nav but really, I have a phone that I use as sat nav so it's not a deal breaker in terms of a car having it/not having it. I just want a newer, more powerful car tbh. I was considering a 10-11k E46 M3 but the economy was TOO bad considering the mileage I will be doing. Happy with the economy I currently have so to get a newer, more powerful car with similar economy is perfect.

I absolutely love the 335i tbh, how did you find it day to day driving? How is the engine being twin turbo rather than N/A? Much lag?

iDrive is BMW's infotainment system. It incorpoates all your entertainment, car settings, vehicle status, etc etc. It is standard on all E9x vehicles with Navigation system. Without it you get a crap monochrome 2 line radio display instead which looks like something out of the late 90's. Therefore, don't bother with one without Navigation.

Sticking a phone to the windscreen is rubbish as well, proper nav is far better.

The 335i was ok - the engine was fabulous, a work of art, zero perceptable lag and amazing performance. The rest of the car was so-so. Not particularly well built, trim rattles, ridiculous ride quality, I didn't get on with it.

Ah ok, sat nav it is then!

I can deal with trim rattles and a hard (I assume you meant hard ride quality) ride tbh, if it really is that bad then I can just sell it on too. Always liked the 335i since I first saw one so now i'm in a position to afford one I think it's the right choice! Something about the exhaust set up just makes the car imo.

Cheers Fox!

The exhaust sounded awesome as well. I loved much about that car, thats why I bouhgt it, shame really. Should have kept it as they've not depreciated much.
