BMW and M Power Owners

It's always going to come down to spec and mileage really. £10.5k sounds top end (is it a BMW dealer?) but you'd need to make your own decision.

I wouldn't personally hold out for an AUC car if the car was priced suitably and eligibly for the extended warranty (I.e say £1k less with full BMW history and under 60k)

The extended warranty with breakdown cover which you get from BMW on a AUC car would cost you £795 per year on the monthly policy. Just worth considering when comparing the value of AUC to none AUC cars

thanks :)

did they not make many 6 cylinder petrol manuals in 5 doors - or do people just not sell them very often lol

if I wanted a 320d I'd have a whole crop to choose from

Yeah there are very few manual petrol estates around with decent spec tbh if that's specifically what you're after

That's where i was coming from really - if it's priced so that you'll be paying less but still have what is pretty much an approved used car (through the warranty) it's worth considering.

Was agreeing, just giving a number so he could understand the overall costs involved so a valid comparison could be made.

I don't think it's a valid comparison, the auc offering is more comparable to the annual policy as it has a fixed renewal date, the avoidance of which is the main reason you would opt for monthly. The annual full policy is circa 550 quid and it's this figure you should use for comparison in my view.

This highlights a flaw, if you buy an AUC think about whether it will be over 60k miles a year later if you value the warranty as you will be hit with the higher rate if so.

My car at the trader/dealer when I picked it up yesterday.

I have a new Mirror surround on the drivers side to replace as the one fitted is slightly faded.

I also drove it 150 miles yesterday no problems, got it home and heard a slight hissing accompanied by an engine management light, car drives/runs perfectly though. Checked it and the lower hose to the ICV/TB is split. I remember the same happening on my silver car a few years ago, slight pain to change, could be worse. Hopefully the engine light isn't associated with any other problem, I'm pretty sure thats why its on, the split is big enough to put a finger in.

Still, even though that was annoying, I am pleased to be back in an E46:)

Duct tape it for now and sort out a new one. I actually have one that turned out to be the wrong part (think it's for an earlier car) so if you get me a photo of the end where the upper hose joins I'll be able to tell you if it's the same - if so you can have it

They aren't expensive anyway tbh

No you need to be careful - that looks a bit like the one I have (can't quite tell from the angle). Is your car a late pre-facelift? Mine is a November 2002 build and it seems to have some minor changes that are usually only found in the facelift cars. That hose being one of them.

The part number matches, but there must have been a revision....unless i've got the wrong intake boots on mine, stranger things have happened!

Bit of a rubbish way to show what I mean but see below:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-E46-3...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

The two jubilee's between the Upper and lower hoses - unless you have a little plastic joining piece that currently sits between your hoses it won't be possible with the hose you've linked to as with the setup on my car the lower boot actually sits inside the upper one....so it needs to have another extended ridge at the upper hose -end

looks like the one in the thread linked:

It is, 2003. I will have to wait and see, hoping not to have a problem :/ Black tape it is for now! :)

Hose is turning up Weds or so, I will check it out next weekend, I remember doing one years ago, not too hard just somewhat fiddly.

Yeah they're dead easy so long as someone has already had it off at least once in its life - otherwise the clips will be set at all kinds of funny angles and will take some contortion / tiny screwdrivers/ UJ's to get off.

Yeah, my setup doesn't have / need that...so it seems to either have been from the earlier or later cars. The joys of owning a car just at switchover
