BMW and M Power Owners

Nice car, you are right about the silver trim though. I find the silver trim so clinical on these, its not inviting by any means. Also, personal preference, but I prefer the earlier sport wheels. Still. Im not jealous at all ;)

Thats... lots of money for an E9x!

No denying it's an awesome car, thats about as good an example of a 335i as you'll ever find but wow... north of £20k?

Ah well, it's bought now, and that engine is simply astoundingly good.

You're absolutely right and I'm aware of that.

I had my heart set on one of these for whatever reason. I fully expect the arse end to fall out in depreciation over the next few years but if it puts as much of a smile on my face when that time comes as it did today, I'll be happy.

Dealers have E9X's worse spec'd for north of £25k, admittedly 11 & 12 plates but for that sort of money I'd seriously consider something else.

Very nice indeed :)

Ta.

Yeah, I really like the 225's but know they've been prone to cracking mostly due to RFT's. Some M3 CSL wheels are up on my wish list. Tempted to grab a replica set for winter tyres, about £600 and see how they hold up. Haven't done any reading yet so don't know if there's a strong opinion against them. Obviously you get what you pay for.

They do seem to go for mental money!

The high milers though are worthless it seems, £10k tops for an 07 with 100k.

Yup, very strange values for the E9X's at the moment.

Do you/or anybody know of all the styles the dash inserts for the E9X came in? I've seen a dark/anthracite walnut burr, I think, but haven't been able to find the part number for it.

Freshly refurbished set of MV1's with new badges and new Hankook Ventus V12 Evo's fitted to my 330Ci this afternoon. Don't want to drive it anywhere now, afraid of stones, debris and kerbs :)

Why would there be a catch? It's a £5k 12 year old 3 Series, priced as it is because its low mileage. I'd buy a different one, that one has no Xenons which with a prefacelift Coupe means horrible reflector lenses.

Basic spec, pre facelift, low miles but has the usual scuffs to show the age, wheels need refurbing, no cabin pictures considering he says in his opinion the cabin colour combo is the most desired...

It seems on car sites that some people expect 4/4.5/5k for the 318 and 320ci's though, even with 50 or 60k on the clock?

Is it possible to get the 325 or 330ci for 5k with less than 50k on the clock for £5k regularly and these sellers are just taking the monkey?

Nothing wrong with pre-facelift now... ;) They are arguably better looking.

Seems expensive. Obviously the mileage is extremely low, but I wouldn't buy one of these according to mileage (I didn't). Its not a good indicator of the condition of the car. It could also be a negative, especially if its done plenty of short trips.

Lack of interior pictures is odd. As a guide I recently paid 4k for a 2003 330Ci auto with 105k. It has HK Audio, Sat Nav, Memory Seats, Saphire Black with black leather.

Why are you so hung up on mileage? These cars will do epic miles. My Car with 105k is in vastly better condition than 3 cars I looked at, one of which had half the miles but was in a dreadful state.

You are trying to buy a 10-12 year old car, why are you insisting on under 50k miles? It's rare so expensive and largely meaningless. It probably all means that every suspension component is original, which is bad, not good.

One of the owners of a 2002 car I looked at boasted it was still on its original cooling system. Probably the worst thing he could have said haha.

Not the reason I didn't purchase it but amusing none the less.

I also prefer the pre facelift look, especially with the foglights!

I'd always assumed a lower mileage was a stronger factor in cars of this age, i.e. eight years of wear/corrosion is not too different to ten years of wear, but 70k of wear is a lot different to 100k of wear? Or is this not the case?

At what sort of mileage do expensive repairs/replacements start to appear? Or general feel of the car degrade?

This would be my first entirely independent car purchase and I want to get it right ;)

I'm not aiming for 50k, I'm aiming for 80-90k or so, 50k was just to make a point of whether the 318 sellers are asking too much.

How long is a peice of string? It depends how it's been looked after. I bought my 5 Series 7 years ago. It now has 200k on it and the 'general feel' of it hasn't degraded since I bought it. It still feels the same. It's also had lots of parts replaced that a low mileage one might not have had yet..

These can be expensive cars to own. Its not really a case of mileage any more, but age and condition. If they haven't had a cooling system at some point they will need it. So radiator, water pump, thermostat. Front arms and bushes are a weak spot. Early cars can suffer from subrframe cracks. Suspension components will probably need refreshing, i.e shocks, top mounts etc. Rust is also a problem.

You would think that the lower mileage cars would be less susceptible to the above, but thats not always the case, they are still the same age and they are still going to be affected. I would rather own a car that did 100k and had recent work than one with 40k and was still on its original front arms, water pump and radiator.

The car I just bought was the cleanest I could find at the time, but even that still needed some work. Last week it became apparent that the oil filter housing gasket was shot, and the DISA valve was extremely noisy. Both have been done. I also just put 4 new tyres and refurbished the wheels, so I have already invested quite a bit in to it. But it did drive very tight, and you can tell a bad one a mile off.

Sorry but Facelift > Pre-Facelift every time

We will have to agree to disagree ;)

Like the advert of that 330ci, at the end says comes with all the extras :) isn't the leather the only option mentioned? Its also get electric and power seats :)
