BMW and M Power Owners

Hi guys, posting this on behalf of a friend. I'm unable to give him any advice as I've never owned a BMW.

He's in the market for a 3 series 330, preferably something like this:

When asked my opinion the only thing I could really point out is that even if the cars are lower mileage they're still quite old, don't know if that matters though. Told him BMW used warrenty is probably worth getting too.

He's looking to spend up to £7,000 on the car itself. When I suggested a 320 sport etc he seemed to prefer the 3.0 litre 330's, so unless they're a better option for the money I guess they're out haha :p.

He's basically wondering what's the max price he should be considering for a car of this age (mileage and condition dependent obviously). Sorry I can't be more specific! Thanks for any help you can offer.

That's very pricey regardless of mileage, I looked at one last year with not many more miles on from a dealer on a 53 plate and that was only £5800, and was in a much nicer colour combination too, very little difference in running costs for any of the 6 cylinders so he might aswell get a 3.0

Goddamnit, I look for a 330 everyday to find nothing, then you come along and find a 54 in a manual and low mileage...

I'd say that's worth a look at, looks nice, and a bit or haggling, I can see you getting that under £6000.

Was looking at e92 m3's the other day and wondered... consider this is under £35k

What kind of money do you need to spend on a car more capable than that? I can't think of a £50k car for example that will do everything that will do better?

These are going to be a very good buy at some point!

What a strange comment...

Anything else in its class such as the C63 AMG and RS5 will do most things as well and some better, the XFR will do some things worse but others better a 335d xDrive is the same...

With all cars it's weighing up what you want it to do and deciding on the compromises that your willing to accept to get the "features" that you decide are more important.

Are you specifically looking for a facelift? It's looking like mine will be going up imminently (though its 120k and pre facelift etc)

Selling my Z4 soon and looking to perhaps replace it with a 3 series. Thoughts on a E90 ('05ish) 325i SE? Are the E90 still considered inferior to E46, seems coil pack, injectors and fuel pump are very common problems?

I know a lot of people think so but I moved from a E46 to E90 and have been very happy with it and think its better in almost every way bar the ride quality most of which will be due to the RFT's

I used to have an e91 335d and the harsh ride can be helped a lot with non RFT tyres.

Overall, I haven't had a better all round car. Was as fast as my V8 S4, was as economical as my 2.0tdi A4. What more can you ask for in a car?

I swapped it for a 530d F11 though, and I like that even more. Not as quick as the 335d, sure. But getting on for the perfect (for me) all round motor.

I'd agree having gone the same way. The ride on my 335d was not that bad but I had the Michelin Pilot Sport ZPs rather than the OEM Bridgestones which I believe makes quite a difference.

E9x i presume? Nice amount of shove, pretty bombproof engine and can be had for a reasonable price. If you're spending lots of money (i.e £10k+) on one though I don't really see many reasons to pick it over the early-ish 330 unless the car has a fantastic spec.

Be sure you can tolerate the ride, particularly if it's on run flats. As you're paying more for a stiffer ride and a bodykit, be sure that's what you really want
