BMW and M Power Owners

Well I would like to congratulate mine, it's a 2000 325ci and it's just completed a trip to geneva then onto Florence, upto mugello back to florence up to bologna then through switzaland, Luxembourg France and home.
Wasn't hanging around neither also got 35mpg over the whole journey, all in all very impressed with the old girl.
Just thought I would sing its praises as it never skipped a beat the whole journey which was 2152 miles.

Awesome stuff. :D

I'm guessing there must have been an awful lot of motorway driving to average 35 over 2152 miles though?

Guys, a quick question on BMW comprehensive warranty. If you buy online and claim that the car has less than 60,000 miles when it actually has slightly more, how would BMW know?

I'm just curious...

Chances are they wouldn't, how much more are you talking? and when was it last into a stealer?

Just saw an F10 535i that appears to have 60,100 miles on the clock on Autotrader. No idea on when it was last at a BMW dealer, but the mileage just got me curious with respect to warranty.

ah right, I'd take a chance on something like that unless you knew it had been into a dealers at say 60001, makes a big different to the cost?

£450ish per year difference on comprehensive warranty according the online quotes. I was merely window shopping for the F10, I can't quite afford one just yet without dipping into savings. It's this one if anyone's interested:

looks nice, especially the interior I cant help but feel the SE are somewhat bland on the exterior tho, wether its a 3, 5 or 7 or any other bmw for that matter really

I think the f10 in SE form is a very handsome looking car. That one appears to be identical spec to mine only with twice the miles and a better engine :(

Just had my test drive of the i8, wow! What a car. It feels like a three series, like a slightly roomier e46. The speed is on par with my M5 all the way past 60 but didn't top a ton so can't comment on high end. It's planted like an M car but it's also quite soft at times which, I don't know, made it feel a bit loose/nervous around bends once or twice but only very slightly, although maybe that's just me being overly wary.

The power delivery is extremely smooth and responsive, you don't even notice the gear changes in auto/comfort and the manual paddles are absolutely sublime! Seriously silky, quick changes you hardly notice, definitely an enjoyment to use. The steering is really light in comfort, one finger flex, and very precise. Put it in sport and it gets a lot heavier but nicely weighted. The suspension firms up in sport to quite a stiff setting, it was a bit jittery over some dodgy roads but that's to be expected.

The engine was a surprise, it didn't feel how I expected at all, the electric itself felt just like a really smooth petrol, throttle response was the same for both. Power was smooth and consistent and when the petrol kicks in you don't really notice any power change, it's just still there pulling all the way to the top. The noise is different, window down it has that like high pitch RC car whine to it but where a turbo noise would usually be if you know what I mean, very nice though - window up and it's just that low pitch burble/grunt pumped in through the speakers which feels strange as the noise is almost too big for the car, but he said it was a replication of the actual engine noise so I guess it's just that mean :D

The car had a lot of gadgets, cameras, some protection ring thing (collision sensors+), SCISSOR DOORS (!!) and lots of other stuff I can't really remember haha (too focussed on driving it :D) but the king of the interior was the dash and iDrive screen, wow! The display is crystal clear, extremely bright, no viewing problems at all. The refresh rate was very slick on the dash and the menu system was smooth and looked like I could spend years just sitting inside playing with the features.

I'm sure there' stuff I've forgotten, the car is pretty sensational. Oh I have to say performance wise it wasn't really anything revolutionary, but the way it gives that performance, the way it delivers it's power is truly exceptional.

Only minor down marks I would have to say are that it is a tiny bit plasticy on the door sills and the nappa leather on the dash could have been upgraded to something a bit more premium looking, but I’m not really sure what so that's just nit picking.

Erm, have some pretty lame pictures.

Hi guys, thinking of a new car in the next few months and a e46 330ci has made it onto the short list.

For people who've had experience of these cars what are the things to look out for when buying apart from the usual suspects of course :) also any particular spec to be looking out for? I'm not really one for toys so someone pointing me in the right direct here would be useful.

As for driving dynamic, how do these feel on the road? Do they feel genuinely sporty or in reality is it just a tarted up 3 series? I'm a bit on the fence as to whether I look for something with a bit more grunt or (ideally) go down the turbo charged route again? Of course test drives will come but some first hand experience will be interesting.

An E46 Sport coupe? It does feel genuinely sporty, doesn't matter what engine or fuel variant you buy into the chassis is the same. Yes you can tell the weight when you approach the limits but you feel everything nicely through the steering wheel and the steering rack has a nice weight to it and is responsive.

Providing you buy one that has had the control arm bushes and other suspension components checked and replaced where needed in the last couple of years then you'll be rewarded with something that feels nicely planted on the road and feels even better the moment you show it some twisty roads.

Stick to good tyres as well because that is the foundation on how any car ultimately feels on the road.

By comparison when I drove a newer 330D M Sport I found the steering too light, I could drive it with 1 or 2 fingers without issue and the rack didn't transmit the feel of the road either. It looked and felt sporty but I wouldn't feel confident driving it on the same roads the way I can drive my own car.

Saw the M8 today, very nice.

Changed my order from a 330d F31 to a 530d F11 as the M sports pack on the 330d meant my delivery date would be sometime after November as there was a shortage of parts. The 530d is an unwanted order and I got a good discount due to threatening to cancel altogether and go for an XF. Despite it being in the country, there's still a 10 working day lead time.

Spec:
F11 530d M Sport Touring N57 3.0
Sophisto Grey Xirallic Metallic
Black Dakota leather with Exclusive stit
Sport automatic transmission
Tyre pressure monitoring
Variable Damper Control (VDC) Suspension
Air conditioning. automatic with four-zo
Lumbar support. driver and front pass.

12V power sockets

Online Entertainment
Enhanced Bluetooth telephone with USB &
Black panel display. full
Active Security package

No Electric Seats but there are part electric (height and back)

A couple features I'm not so keen on but it's £54500 list and I'm getting it for £43000.

Starting to get a bit peed off now...after the failed suspension sensor I've now had something in the audio system go catastrophically bang. Was a huge pop then there was no sound at all, all audio is gone not just from music sources. That's on top of the creaking drivers seat, problem with the speed limiter display, it loosing 2-5 minutes a week on the clock and it not receiving connected drive messages.
