BMW and M Power Owners

Can you not stump for a 330? The 325 is a bit of an odd machine. Not much more performance than a 320 - more refined certainly - and not much more frugal than a 330 but with markedly less performance.

I'm coming from a 1.6 so felt the power jump was enough for me to be honest. I'm assuming it would be more thirsty on petrol also? Along with being more expensive overall?

You're looking at about a second quicker to 60. Fuel consumption is nigh on equal - autotrader gives the 325 an average of 39.8mpg, the 330 39.2mpg. Tax I believe is equal for them both.

It's a far better engine and if you hunt about you'll find one for exactly the same price as the 325 you're looking at.

OK thanks for the advice. Hopefully won't struggle to find a 330 with idrive.

I thought I'd share my evolution of BMW ownership, as I've just given my most recent one a polish & wax. I love a 3-Series! Pictures below.

Started with an E36 328i.

Then moved onto an E46 328Ci.

And for the past few months I have been driving an E92 325i.

Wow. I knew my Moto G had a terrible camera, but the pictures of my 325 are shocking!!!

Whats the consensus on replacement rear pads for a 10 plate 335i? Just waiting for the dealer to get back to me so I can fall off my chair.

Under extended warranty so they will either need to be OEM or OE spec right?

Unless oem are extortionate I can't see any reason to go elsewhere for rear pads

£220 inc VAT is what I've been quoted, fitted.

I'll check the stipulation around CBS and consumables and if doing this job myself doesn't cause issues with my extended warranty will consider it. I've done brakes before and with parts costing around £70 for OE equivalents from ECP it's tempting.

Why wouldn't you fit oem pads yourself? What's the labour portion of that £220?

I'd have no particular problem with oem equivalent, depending who made them.

No idea but north of £100 I should think. Seem to recall pads being around £96 when I inquired a while ago.

Neither do I. My only concern is invalidating my extended warranty as brakes might actually be a serviceable item based on the OBC and whether or not there is space for a stamp in the service book.

Thanks, I'll try those.

A local independent has just quoted £48 inc VAT to fit pads & sensors, parts will cost about the same. I'll check but this should not affect my warranty and would get a stamp in the service book, not a dealer stamp of course. Indy or dealer makes no difference in my eyes when purchasing a car providing they are reputable.

It makes no difference to you but it does to others and therefore affects the resale value. Up to you if the saving is worth that potential risk, depends what the car is worth too. On a 4k one not such an issue, but On a 15k car you need all the help you can get when selling privately.

I ignore cars without dealer history not because I think the dealer is any better as they are likely not but because I have no interest in high value cars where the owner has looked to save a few quid on running costs.

Massively vague question time ahoy!

I'm probably gonna be looking at an e46 330 Coupe as a weekend car (I have a boring diesel company car) and like the look of the LCI. What sort of money am I gonna be looking at for a reasonable one?

Far too much for such an old design, skip the lci as it added nothing to the M Sport bar new lights and get a 2009 model year car instead, that gives you the newer idrive and the much better N 57 engine.
