BMW and M Power Owners

I'd of thought a fuel pump would be very much an oem purchase, which might be painful (might not if no m tax, std cars are about £200) but let's face it its lasted this long

Bmminiparts or Cotswold BMW are worth checking for a discount

Top tip: WWW.bmwforums.info offer 15% discount through Harry Fairbairn BMW. Every little helps eh?

NB. They're a Scottish BMW dealership - God knows what will happen with deliveries/ordering if they get independence!

You can also sign up to BMWOwner and get the discount from Cotswolds if you wanted :)

PS: C3BMW also do the M5 fuel pumps which are VDO branded for £229 - not 100% if it's the OEM manufacturer in the E39, but definitely is for the E46 if that helps:

I've had fantastic service from them in the past and Simon really is a pleasant chap to deal with.

Selling my BMW 130i M Sport.

As a replacement, I'm buying a BMW 325i Estate.

Anything to look out for? I'm going to do it on the cheap as best I can, so I'm looking at a max of £2,500. This car will be a work horse, so I don't need the latest and greatest. Cruise control would be nice, as wood a sunroof. Leather seats also a bonus. The price range allows me to venture into the 2001 - 2004 range, with anything from 90k to 140k... Ideally, below 120k would be nice.

Back down to the dealer tomorrow to collect my car...after they've had it for 2 weeks. Lets see how the discussions go with the DP and After Sales manager as well.

Estates are rare, nice ones ridiculously so, nice ones at your budget even more ridiculously so.

Just find the least rusty car you can with the best history and prepare to fix stuff

Every SE (and sport obviously) had cruise as standard anyway, along with digital climate and electric mirrors/windows all round etc etc. They are fairly well equipped cars even if you got a basic 325i SE.:)

- Cooling system is the unexpected weak point of the car, unless it has already been changed (mine hadnt) you will almost certainly need to change the expansion tank and probably radiator too, they are made of plastic which goes brittle over time and eventually gives way to the pressure. This is no big deal but it could leave you stranded, luckily mine just started leaking around 1L/hour at pressure, so i managed to drive it until i could fix it. I just swapped the expansion tank and the rad, put some new coolant in there and it seems fine now. Very cheap to do but took me ages to get the expansion tank out as its a bit of a pig to release it, i think the total outlay for me was less than £100.

- The heating resistor which controls the climate fan usually goes, although ive never had an issue with this on any of mine so far. Again, really cheap and a DIY job.

- They use oil, which is a bloody pain, but livable. My recently acquired one seems to have used nearly 1L in around 3000 miles which is about average for a miley E46. Not much you can do about this, just make sure you have some spare oil for when the oil can light comes on the dash after you turn the ignition off.

Other than this its just the same stuff which you would check on any older car, check everything works, check for clunks when driving, just the usual. They are fairly reliable in general hence me buying a cheap one for a commuter.

Seems expensive to me, though depends on what he'd let it go for. Doesn't mention service history (unless I've missed it at a glance), also doesn't mention if any of the main work has been carried out on it as per Jez's post above.

Also appears to be a little tatty on the inside around the door grabs and drivers seat bolster. I'd probably avoid that one personally.

Thanks Atari. I was gonna ask about service history and cooling system as I had to replace mine on my saloon with less miles but then noticed it still hasn't hit reserve price. Not interested!

I love Estoril Blue, and would ideally like a facelift, but they seem to all be autos or up for menfal money.
Other colour combo I'm looking for is Sapphire black with red leather which again seems a little rare :/

Hate the wheels, hate the mirrors, hate the lights, hate the grille.

Mot history mentioned means it doesn't have a decent service history for me and it just looks like every inch a car I'd want to avoid unless I could pick it up dirt cheap.

I'm not averse to de barrying a car that has had simple mods done (lights etc) if it has a decent history, but yeah. Not for that price!

I'll keep on looking!

Better off looking at a Clubsport if you want an Estoril coupe. If you can get over the horrid wheels and the love it or hate it rear spoiler lol.

There's a couple of facelift ones about, though for some reason they can be quite sparse on the added options.
