BMW and M Power Owners

4 months for a boggo 3 series?! Is it because it's the X drive variant?

The M Sport brake kits that are part of the M Sport Plus pack are in constrained supply from Brembo, normally delivery would be this side of Christmas but those items are pushing back delivery dates.

What made you pick a saloon over the touring out of interest?

Absolutely no interest or need for a touring

How long until your next perfect purchase with obvious amazing deal that you then reverse on a few months later, J1nxy? ;)

About 6 months on current form ;) maybe if its like my previous XF it'll last 2-3 years

Your choice absolutely disgusts me!

Oh no, I think the word should be confuses ;) either way, enjoy.

I put this is the "What have you done to your car today" thread but thought you BMW guys might appreciate it more here.

I popped up to Crawley after a weekend in Brighton as a guy on e90post converts the orange E9x speedo cluster to white. It takes just 20 minutes to do and costs £40 for the dials and centre displays; IMO it freshens the dash up and makes it feel much more modern; even the gf says it looks 10x better and she doesn't normally notice these things :)

Quite like that :) it even comes with another 1/3 tank of fuel! :p

Driver of e92s what style of wheel do you have?

Since im replacing the rears, if I find a set on ebay i might change style.

hard to picture what they will look like without actually being on the car.

Looking over my receipt they have provided a couple of advisory comments about noise coming from engine, likely water pump bearings, and misfire when cold likely 2x coils replacement...

Right, having watched some youtube videos on how to do coils, I'm going to have a go at these myself !!

Will this be alright and do I only need two of them, if it is two cylinders that are misfiring or do I need a matching set of 6.

The spark plugs were done in 2012 (with 6h labour, so i'd bloody hope all of them were done), so that would suggest replacing them would be of little benefit?

The air filter was done at the same time so I guess that removes that as a possible cause...

I would replace the plugs anyway. If someone needed 6 hours to change them they should be sacked

Buy a few coils, even if you don't need the third it'll be handy to have one

Replace the two year old air filter, its a ten second job. You need to check all the intake to make sure its actually put together properly and not full of holes, particularly the top and bottom boots

Was it last serviced 2 years ago, or did they just leave the filter last time as it was clean(ish)?

It was last serviced (stage 1) in July 2013 and had belts, spark plugs, airfilter and change and microfilter change as well as stuff like "Tyre pressure check". The oil filter was done 2012.

BMW Stratstone left me £25 poorer for a headlight bulb this morning. Perhaps my own fault for being complacent as brake light bulbs are dead cheap from there, so I wrongly assumed the headlight bulbs would be too. :(

I'm pretty sure I've got a couple of old coils from my 330i from when I replaced all six of mine you could have if you wanted to do any testing.

I had an issue with a flat spot at high revs so I swapped them all over but the other 5 were working just fine when I removed them.

That looks nice, but what about the other displays/dashboard illumination? Can't help but feel it might look out of place when everything else is illuminated orange... Happy to be proven wrong by way of an interior photo though!

Here's a pic of the dash as promised, along with my newly installed bargain of an M3 wheel):

Anyone here have any advice on a used 3 series for around the £3,000 mark? What 'model' is deemed better and so on? I've done some reading and read some people say 330 is a better engine versus say a 323 etc

Just wondering if anyone had some general advice/tips - looking for an automatic.

Thanks

Looks good :) What does the M3 wheel give you other than the different paddles, or is it just a bit thicker?

Looks good :) What does the M3 wheel give you other than the different paddles, or is it just a bit thicker?

It's exactly the same thickness as the MSport wheel except it's made from Nappa leather and doesn't have the perforated sides. It also has the tri-colour stitching. The M3 paddles are pull-only with the typical left for downshift and right for upshift, whereas the MSport are push-pull for up/down on both sides.

I wasn't looking to change my wheel as although it's a bit shiney it's in good condition, but this one came up for £170 instead of the usual £300+ so it was rude not to :)

Scratch that makes me want an E92, love the wood. Looking good!

Thanks bud :) I've never been a fan of traditional wood interiors but this is Dark Poplar which is more of a grey colour. It gives the interior a nice warm feel to it compared to your usual 3 series trims.

Scratch, put some fuel in that poor thing!

I'm massively confused by your centre console. I swear when I had mine the CD player was at the top with the climate controller module below it then things like the heated seats etc at the bottom.

Dials do look rather good though.
