BMW and M Power Owners

It's covered under warranty but the end piece which is the bit that will need replacing is only about £30. If you have the typical £100 excess then you're better off doing it yourself.

I actually got mine done under warranty but only because it was done under a bigger warranty claim. They also fit some plastic spacers to the metal rod the bottom of the seatbelt attaches to, which helps the seatbelt assistant pick up the belt more reliably.

Excellent, thanks!

I've had courtesy cars from BMW since I was 20 - age was never once mentioned.

Good to know, thanks. Wasn't me that dropped the E46 in for the last service so didn't know if they'd get fussy or not.

Worryingly I managed to spend just shy of a grand on the 335i yesterday on a few bits and pieces; an expensive day but well worth it!

Really do quite like that. What's next on the list or taking a break from spending for a while? Also, how much was the walnut blasting if you don't mind me asking?

Looks really nice scratch. The reason I went for the MSport skirts on my old E92 is because genuine M3 ones didn't fit non M cars. Since the ones you have fitted must be replicas, can you give an honest opinion on how they fit? Some people said that body lines particularly around the rear wheel/skirt didn't match up great.

Thanks bud. From what I've seen so far these are a really good fit. There a couple of places where they're out of line slightly, but it was a rush job to swap them over last night so I'm going to pop them off at the weekend and re-fit.

Cheers fella. I have a 600w RMS JL amp to fit as soon as the wiring harness arrives from the US along with some Logic7 mids. Paired with the Logic7 underseat subs I fitted recently it should sound amazing and look completely OEM..definitely a system built for SQ and not all out bass, but it will still pack a punch right the way up to 11 on the volume dial :)

Once that's done I'll be taking a break for a while to let the bank balance recover :) Struggling to think what else to do now without deviating from my path of keeping it looking OEM; wheels and suspension are the next logical move I guess. Where possible I've used BMW Performance parts and there's not many left to fit hehe.

Sounds good about the sound, am a big fan of things that up quality but keep the OEM look. What would you do with regards to the wheels? Not content with having them the wrong colour? :p

That does look great and fair play, the instrument cluster fits in :)

Remap? ;)

Been there, done that and to be totally honest it makes the car a bit too powerful! Had a Cobb V3 running a stage 1 aggressive map with the Alpina gearbox software and it was a beast. Unfortunately I did it in the middle of winter and even pulling away from a junction became hard work.

The standard HiFi setup is quite good out of the box, but amping it up properly and adding L7 speakers will give it so much more clarity. It's also quite surprising how much bass a couple of 8" subs can chuck out :)

Wheel-wise in really not sure what I'd go for at the moment, but my urge to lower the car slightly is strong as the E92 tends to have a large arch gap up front.

Missed your earlier question about the walnut blasting, it was £280, which was a bargain considering it's like 6 hours labour!

Here are the pics from the walnut blasting, you can see just how much gunk there was on some of the valves!

I've just bought a 2 owner 2002 330i Sport Auto Touring for £2500 with full service history.

The accompanying folder must be 2 inches thick, with seemingly every single receipt since the 2nd owner bought the car from a BMW main dealer at 3 years old in 2005. They even have receipts for the wiper blades that they bought at BMW main dealers.

The car has 130,000 on the clock, and it obviously does have age related marks - its far from perfect.

However, it was what I wanted, and at £2500, you can't argue. Mines a Dark blue with a Biscuit coloured leather, electric front seats with memory and lumbar support, xenon lights... I think thats the most important options that it has. Drives brilliantly.

Nice, pretty good you managed to get that level of detail!

What are you doing 'warranty' wise for the car, or are you taking any issues as it comes?

I've had a look at companies like Warranty Direct, but not sure if they actually cover everything - you know what these insurance companies are like.

I was wondering the same thing. Should be picking up my 2002 330i next week, and a warranty never even crossed my mind. It's simply too old for such a thing to be viable.

Hi,

Im looking to buy a 2010 e90 at the weekend. Prior to purchase i would like to have the car inspected by a garage. Can anyone recommend me a BMW specialist in Leicester i could take it to?

Thanks,

Russ

Lots of scope for discounts on that provided the seller isn't a dreamer. Selling a car like that privately is very very hard and he will never get its true value. 90% of people in the market for that car wont buy it from him as they'll want to buy it from a dealer and many of those will want to finance it, something else he cannot offer.

So his real market is very small and limited to those able and willing to pay cash to a private seller.

Thanks, I think I'll go view it over the weekend.
When I call him, I was thinking of asking what offer's he's had and refused already so I can see if we're on the same page or not as its quite a way to go for him to just say no to any offer.

It also gives me chance to try out the DCT too, I liked the 6MT but cant wait to try the DCT!
