BMW and M Power Owners

Why would you ever ask what offers have been refused!?

Decide an upper and lower price you think is fair for the car and offer from just below the lower end as a starting point - the if's, buts, why's or what has come before make no difference.

As above he is going to have a reasonably difficult time selling it privately, and probably knows so

So...the f30 328i is just a tad...none v6 sounding for my like. I've read around and seen whispers and rumours that changing the downpipe can alleviate this problem and also up the power a bit. Anyone know if this is complete hokum or if not where to start looking for one?

The standard HiFi setup is quite good out of the box, but amping it up properly and adding L7 speakers will give it so much more clarity. It's also quite surprising how much bass a couple of 8" subs can chuck out :)

Wheel-wise in really not sure what I'd go for at the moment, but my urge to lower the car slightly is strong as the E92 tends to have a large arch gap up front.

Missed your earlier question about the walnut blasting, it was £280, which was a bargain considering it's like 6 hours labour!

Here are the pics from the walnut blasting, you can see just how much gunk there was on some of the valves!

You should definitely go for style 313 wheels, think of how easy they'd be to clean! Plus, your disks will then look tiny so it's an excuse to upgrade those ;)

Walnut blasting looks like a good result for not that much cash, guessing it can prevent serious borkage down the line?

Not driven a 328i but I have driven it's US competitor - the Cadillac ATS 2.0T - quite a lot. It's actually even more powerful at 275bhp and it's certainly quick, much as I'd expect the 328i is quick, but every time you accelerate you are reminded that it very definitely isn't a 6 cylinder. The engine sounds coarse and fairly strained and unpleasant. It sounds therefore like the 328i is much the same in this regard.

The previous 328i was a 3 litre normally aspirated six. Sigh :(

I know man. Makes me sad too. The lag is the thing that reminds me it isn't a v6.
I was after something with a bit more poke than my 320 and was looking at 530ds, Xfs and a cayman as a bit of a wild card. I'd always liked the f30 but didn't want another diesel. Particularly as I don't do many long journeys now (my usual commute takes 15 mins) so l just didn't think a 3l 6 cyl diesel was a sensible option.
Drove the 328i and loved it...even if it didn't have the 6 cyl of its predecessors. Just miss that sound and as you say the delivery. It doesn't sound strained just not as great as the 328i deserves.
P.s. Love the new wheels on yours!

Oh and it's not even about it sounding great, it just...doesn't sound! It's really freakin quiet until about 5k revs! I just want something!

It's an option! However thinking about cheaper alternatives first before I hand more of my cash over to the hun! Heh heh

It might be worth getting a quote for one from Cotswold BMW on the BabyBMW.net forum because they offer decent discounts on parts. Having said that, I can get an MPE for £150 less from Germany for my car (leebmann24.de).

Lol I do like the 313s but they, like all diamond cut wheels are a liability. Even if you get a brand new set it's only a matter of time before they start going milky and corroding.

With the walnut blasting you'll probably reach a point where the carbon deposits get bad enough to start causing misfires and stalling.

Have you got any further deciding what your next motor will be?

But they look awesome for all the time they're not corroded :p

Still waiting till 21st birthday in Feb which opens up everything insurance wise. Currently batting back and forth between E39 M5/E46 M3/E92 M3, hopefully I'll have made my mind up in a few months lol.

Any thoughts on this z4?

I've been watching these for the last few months and they seem to suddenly all be selling very quickly.

It says 8 services how many should it have? Also can anyone tell me how much effort it will be to tidy up the leather. Red sports seats seem rather rare.

I'm not too fussed over manual or auto. Is there anything to look out for or know about the auto boxes?

Ideally I would like something with a few less miles but finding one with decent options at around that price may be more difficult.

Looks OK, not great not terrible.

Why would you buy an auto one though? I love a big 6 coupled to an automatic box but not in a roadster - the box suits a cruising style and from memory won't let you hold gear close to the limiter. Fine for something like a 3 or 5 but not for a z4 imo

Seats could be tidied up with dye but takes patience.

Services sound fine in terms of number but I'd want details. I don't consider a back street garage stamp full history

4 owners isn't great either.

Those wheels corrode really badly - looks like they might have been returned but difficult to tell on a phone

A sunroof...now that's something I haven't seen in a while!

Pretty much every 5 Series sold in the US has one. They also have a LOT of manuals, too - it's BMW's biggest market for 5 Series manuals and it's why only the US got the manual transmission in the E60 and F10 M5.

So, actually, that 550i manual is exactly where you'd expect it :D

Sadly no more - the manual was dropped from the 550i a few years ago and this year has been dropped from the 535i (the volume seller) too.
