BMW and M Power Owners

On his car he needs Enhanced Bluetooth (which can be easily coded in), but the newer cars (post week 36 2014 I think) have bluetooth streaming enabled by default.

Not sure that's right, I wanted bluetooth streaming so checked with the dealer to confirm and he said that I need the enhanced Bluetooth option. I didn't go for it in the end. The dealer could be wrong, just mentioning what he told me.

I've got a business CD player and no aux input. What's the best option for me in my 2007 Z4M? I've seen its dead easy to install an aux in but that won't charge the phone.

My June 2014 M135i with bluetooth streaming and no Enhanced Bluetooth says that your dealer was looking to make £300 out of you :) Although I don't know if the week 36 changes applies to the 4 series.

You need the cable and BMW software (both easily Google'able) and there are guides on the net that show you how to do it :)

This is a good starting point.

Oh awesome, thanks. You say easily google-able, but what's the name of the cable to Google? :P

Also, how do you know if you have a combox? I have a 2014 M135i with Business Nav.

Most of it can be coded in by all accounts, but both my cars have had Enhanced bluetooth so not needed to. The BMW apps with control of spotify, deezer etc from the idrive is very good as well.

Might be worth just checking what the full spec is through here as its not unusual for a dealer to miss stuff off the spec...

Dealer is wrong, it was the July switch over where the changes came in across the range

You're looking for an ENET cable :)

You'll have the Combox because you have nav, but you're looking for this under the boot floor by the battery:

Joining the club tomorrow night :) Picking up a E46 330Ci.

Link to advert: http://www.pistonheads.com/classifi...ries-e46-330ci-sport-imola-red-manual/3149896

picked it up for under £3k in the end. Good lad who's selling it and the car is in decent nick (apart from the bad bits as described on the advert) and clearly owned by someone who takes a bit of care which is always nice.

In honesty, I would've preferred to spend a bit more on a facelifted version but my money needs to go elsewhere currently so spending under my initial budget was a bit of a draw for me.

What you lot reckon?

It looks like a good example bodywork wise anyway, newish clutch is a good thing along with the other recent work. Few bits and pieces to check the history for/watch out for but nothing major really.

The trim confuses me - not sure why you'd ever put a wrapped wood trim in a sport, but let's face it its not exactly a new car so as long as you like it I'm sure it'll be fine

I've seen a 2003 M3 convertible in manual I like the look of. Need to sort some time out to look at it properly but going by what the dealer has said it sounds just up my street. Only some wear on drivers bolster which they had replaced and 2 new front wheel refurbs.

Being manual and convertible ticks 2 boxes immediately and if condition is right then I'd be happy to forfeit the desire for cream interior and stick to all black.

If it works out then the first change will be alcantara wheel retrim and alcantara gaiters plus new short weighted gear knob :D

Not sure if this is the right place but I'll put it here to start with...

I'm contemplating purchasing a 2009 BMW 335i Wagon (I live in NZ hence the term), as I have need for space to carry a mountain buggy swift plus 'stuff' for said child. While I've put the buggy in the boot and it 'fits', there isn't as much space as I was hoping for. Does anyone have a 335i Estate that they use as a daily car for shifting young kids with buggies around in?

There are also a couple of nice 2008 BMW 530i's around too which would work but I think I'd prefer the power and nimbleness of the 3 series (having driven one recently and gone wow at the power).

I'm really not sure what is best; the fun, nippy, powerful 335i (with CIC) or a practical and spacious 530i (with CCC update 2). How big is a 5 series boot compared to a 3 series in real terms?

For me the car has to be suitable for your needs first and foremost. The boot in the 3 series touring isn't great as it's really not that big a car to start with! I guess it comes down to whether things "just" fitting is ok for you (it would be for me if I'm honest) or if you need/want the ability to be able to squeeze in a bit more.

If you've driven a 335i, the x30i is not going to give you anything like the 'wow' factor. It's a lovely, smooth engine with great economy for its size but it can't touch the turbo for outright pace.

It'll ultimately be a tradeoff. What 5 series are you looking at, e61 or F11?

2009 E61, newer 5 series are more expensive second hand here, although much lower 'milage'. The 530i I'm looking at only has 51000kms on it, so quite low compared to UK.

This is the problem, the 3 has plenty of cabin space for my needs but it would be fun, power and 'function' possibly over practicality... Where as the 5 series would be practical and 'nice' but no where near as fun or quick.

EDIT: I liked the 2009 335i's CIC iDrive, was pretty neat... What is a 2008/9 1st gen iDrive with Update 2 like?

I'd get them to check the subframe if it's not already been done, I believe the warranty from BMW is for 10 years from manufacture so this one won't be covered by them.

I had a 335d touring (e91) when we had our first child. As you say, when you have the kids stuff in the boot, there isn't much room once you have all the kids stuff in there.

I upgraded to a 530d touring (f11) and it allowed the pram to fit in the one half of the boot, rather than across the whole back. Much more boot space.
