BMW and M Power Owners

Call up Harry Fairbairn Kirkcaldy BMW parts (01592 657808) and quote the part number 83122298207 and say that you are a BMWforums.info user and it'll be £15.32 including next day Fedex delivery (items despatched on Weds and Fri).

Should hopefully still be being sold as they were still selling it on 1st December.

How much do you get for that and whats the concentration?

Hmm I did some reading up and it seems Reddish in Bristol do the best subframe job in the UK perhaps and they document the entire job with photos as well as do a brake fluid change + other bits.

I'll dog deeper and see what's what. This assuming the car itself is sound of course! I don't do many miles, 3000 a year if even that and the mileage of the car is 63k, the guy said it's in excellent condition so if it's anything like my current E46 then most of the mileage has been motorway hopefully and the subframe is in good working order!

Doesn't matter mate, the bit where the subframe attaches to the car can crack after lots of hard acceleration in 1st and 2nd it will go on most M3's tbh mine has been checked and is okay so far, I need to get the reinforcement done asap.

5litres. Down to -63c when used neat. -35c when used 2:1 (screenwash:water), -23c 1:1, -12c 1:2.

Also, it smells good enough to drink.

I've found another manual M3 convertible with hard top and red leather interior, it has a recent inspection 2 and subframe was checked then. It is still under the 10 year warranty so I have at least 6 months if I do buy it to get BMW to sort it out. I suppose the natural thing to do would be to make ample use of gears 1 and 2 before the warranty on the subframe is up :p

Going to view it soon and see what's what but by all accounts it does appear to be the perfect M3 for me so far.

So I guess thats a quid a litre diluted - as you'll get 15 litres out of it.

Still seems a bit expensive..

:D

15l @ -12c, for £15? That's absolutely ridiculous? That's nearly as expensive as petrol :p

It is?

Tesco's own brand -10c stuff is £2.50 for 2.5l litres (£1/litre), Sainsburys is the same, Halfords -20c 5l conc. stuff is £7.50 (50/50 = -13c = 10litres/£7.50 (75p/litre).

BMW's own stuff with it's anti-mould/algae stuff at £1/litre isn't bad at all IMO?

Also, is it just me that doesn't understand why -63c stuff diluted with equal amount of water, doesn't mean it's ok to -31.5c?

Usually pay (Well, pre F10, not actuallyhad to fill it up yet..) about £2-3 for stuff that you dilute 3 to 1 at the least?

Where from? All the usual places that people get screenwash from (supermarkets and Halfords) are the same or comparable price. Even Eurocarparts bargain-o-tastic TripleQX stuff is £4.60 for 5litres of -15c stuff, making it as near as makes no difference - £1/litre.

I get mine out of costco. Dilutes 1:9 (screen wash : water) and is cheap as chips.

What screenwash can you dilute 1:9 and have it anywhere near strong enough to stop it freezing in winter and to clean a windscreen? Considering the BMW stuff is -63c neat and when you dilute it to 1 part screenwash:2 parts water it goes from -63c to -12c. You'd have to invent, then use like -500c stuff to get it to be a decent enough concentration to not freeze/clear the windows effectively when diluted with 9 parts water!

I know BMW are sometimes subtle with their LCI/Facelifts on their cars but this is pretty extreme...

This really is a case of spot the difference...

Wow, thats even more subtle than the borderline useless F10 LCI! What exactly have they changed?

Headlights, surround round the fogs, indicators moved to the wing mirrors and possibly the biggest thing the chrome grill now has 9 rather than 10 slats

To be honest the changes are so subtle you do wonder why bother...but then as the LCI was coming I suspect that didn't exactly hurt the deal I got on my car ;)

You sure?
An odd number means more slats on one side of the car.

Looks like 12 slats on the M6

:: EDIT ::
Got you - you meant 9 per side

Slats - such an interesting discussion :p
