BMW and M Power Owners

No, I'm not that exciting lol. I'm going for an early morning wash and wax and a coat of Zaino for the leathery bits :p THEN the hoon can commence.

Oh yeah the windscreen does have a chip, I noticed that today but not when I went to see it, though TBH I wasn't looking for chips on the glass then I guess. he gave me cash to get a new windscreen sorted which is nice

Just installed an Aux in on my z4 07 plate business cd player. I'm getting no low end coming out in Aux mode... Anyone know what's up? CD and FM both get the subs going still (10 speaker system) but there's no bass from the Aux. Tried different 3.5mm cables and different input devices.

What cable did you buy? Just a plain cable or did you get one with an in-line resistor?

Should be fine if the AUX mode is available, next question is did you plug it in the right way up? It's an easy mistake and I did that first time.

Seems ok - the optional items are indeed options, none of that stuff is standard.

That car has been for sale for a while. I would be looking to pay about £20k or have some extra warranty thrown in and pay a tad more. It is almost identical to mine (Though mine has Dynamic Pack and Sports Auto Transmission) and thats the deal I got. As they've had it for sale for some time I would be very surprised if you couldn't negotiate 10% + extra warranty into the deal.

The reason why it looks to have more options than it does is because they've listed the components of options packs separately. It has:

Visibility Package (Xenons, High Beam Assist and Adaptive Headlights).
Professional Media (Pro Nav, Voice Control, Enhanced Bluetooth, BMW Assist with Telematics)

It still baffles me why these cars cost as much as they do. I spent months trying to pay less before giving up and accepting the fact that it appears 20 grand is the going rate for a decent 4 year old 5 Series

Ah right, I wasn't sure about the extras so removed my comment. Yours sounds like quite a good spec!

Have been looking at the E-class as well, found a nice petrol 350 for just under £16k which would be more tempting if I was looking to buy now. Not that I've driven either car, I sat in the 5 and didn't find it as nice/comfortable as the photographs suggest, maybe the E would be even worse.

The E Class is generally cheaper than the equivalent 5 Series. It was also introduced a year before so there are older and thus cheaper ones about.

I looked at the E Class but rejected it because:

a) In comparison to the F10 the interior really isn't very nice - it's very angular and utilitarian looking and the centre console reminds me of a Vauxhall Astra. It doesn't feel like a Mercedes in there. By contrast the interior of the F10 is lovely.

b) Mercedes aftermarket costs always seem very pricey compared to BMW for me. If the car was worth the extra fair enough but it didn't seem to be.

I rejected the A6 because you cannot get an A6 with a decent gearbox unless you opt for the BiTDI which was hugely over budget. Everything else gets either a CVT or DSG and whilst DSG is fine in a hot hatch IMHO it's not a patch on a ZF 8 Speed in an executive saloon. It also has an inferior infotainment system IMHO (Smaller screen is my biggest criticism).

I think it's the right way up. The other way around brings no Aux mode up.

This is the CD player

The bottom left is where I installed it. Weirdly taking out both bottom left and top left modules results in no noticeable lack of anything...

So taking this and the white one put does nothing it seems, but the aux in only works on the one, and that's without bass.

Lacking low end/bass is something which I have experienced where a jack doesn't go in all the way, but I doubt this is your problem. Looking at the photos all the cables correctly oriented, so might just be worth trying another audio cable to your device, and if that doesn't work, then I'd be trying a different cable to the radio.

Looks like an e46 meet. You'll switch to sport as a preference soon enough :D Get some decent pics up!

Been toying with it on today but still prefer actually working the right foot for the great reward on offer :D

I'm sure the novelty of that engine and exhaust note will wear off in time but I've been hassled for rides by friends and family all day today and they've been loving it.

Gotta say I'm impressed by the fuel economy as well all things considered. Just ticked over 3 quarters remaining since filling up at Oxford yesterday.

Hopefully permanently losing the hardtop this weekend. I've attempted to make space in and out of the house but it's just not going to happen and keeping it serves no purpose so I'd rather £500 in my pocket :p

I assume you are marvin on the Z4 board as well, cheers for your help so far. I'll get an official bmw cable and see if that works

Big mistake IMO. Soft tops make too much wind noise and are a PITA to clean. Can't you leave it round your parents house or something?

Pics as mentioned to come but details:
- Nov 2005 reg with 64K miles, new Inspection 2 done at M3/CSL specialist (them)
- Carbon Black with hard top included
- Red Nappa leather
- Manual gearbox
- New Pilot Supersport tyres on rear, new PS2s on front
- New set of fully refurbed alloys with option to cheaply upgrade to genuine CSL wheels when I'm ready for a change of wheel.
- Free car control tuition at his drift day events (he's a race/drift driver)
- Free ride in a CSL which I'll explain in dedicated thread in time :p

I've got plenty of bits to get ordering today so hopefully most arrive by Wednesday. Busy day ahead...

Nice one :)

May I ask how much you paid for it? What mpg on one of these?

I almost bought a hardtop for both my Z4 and now M3, but then realised the ballache of constantly removing them isn't worth it - the wind noise isn't even that bad in my E36. The removal and storage of hardtops mean that most people never bother to remove them often and it defeats the object of having a convertible.
