BMW and M Power Owners

As I said once I'm at home with how the M3 cab talks to me I'll play with DSC off because it's a completely different machine to my previous car!

Did the E46 M3 have a half setting (similar to m-dynamic)? Or just normal/snow/off?

All BMWs with DSC/ASC have a half mode of sorts. Press DSC once to de-activate traction control but it retains ABS and maybe something else, just allows the wheels to do whatever physics will allow. Hold DSC down for a few seconds and that turns all aids off. There is no "allow me to slide a bit plz" mode though like on newer motors.

Lord help you if you mess up then!

Ooh wonder what's different with the E39?

Yeh that's what I refer to as 'snow mode' as it's pretty much the only time to use it, just wasn't sure if it had a 'play mode' too or not. You're going to have so much fun tomorrow :D

It's going to be a slow day until 13:00 rolls by :D

There isnt an lsd emulation, it just crudely brakes the spinning inside wheel it cant be compared. Bettee than fully off I'll give you that though.

I never turn the DSC off in mine. Don't really see the point on public roads.
Nor do I it's silly to especially on public roads.
A six cylinder can still catch you out when you least expect it.

I intermittently get a little dipped light sign on my dash (on the picture of the car bit) and on these occasions the near side headlight is out. I.e. the side lights work fine but when I put my lights on dipped I have 3 working lights main + side on offside and just side on nearside.

From reading the xenon thread it seems that demons don't have a <5 year life span like normal bulbs, and when it is working it is not a different temperature/colour. Sometimes it is fixed by tuning the engine and electrics off and waiting a few seconds.

Any ideas?

It's an e46 330ci. It's had a whole 2 months of so without needing to go to the garage!

I'm looking to get an E92 330/335 in the next 6 months and looking to do a bit of reading up on these.

What are the best resources online?

e90post.com forums seem decent with a lot of content and an active UK section/classifieds.

Is there any other good forums/sites for info about ownership, common problems and a sales section?

I'm a member over on e90post and not really needed to go anywhere else to be honest.

Things have got a bit quieter over there in recent months after the admins banned a couple of long-standing and well-respected members, but there is still a mountain of information there and plenty of knowledgeable people. There's a really good community spirit still as well - when I split from my long-term gf a month ago I had several PMs and texts from members wishing me well!

Not sure if this is the most fitting place to put this but anyway...

Im considering a cooper s, coming from a mk5 gti so need something with abit of poke thats still relatively modern. After a bit of browsing I'm hearing a lot about coked engines etc though these apply to the earlier models?

6.5K enough for a decent one? thoughts on the link below?
