BMW and M Power Owners

With two kids, we're already finding it a struggle to manage with the m3, it's just got no space in at all.
I think in less than a year we're going to trade and get an x6 50d.
The new model is out now?

It's best not to suggest you will purchase an X6 on this forum.....

But despite what those that haven't owned one say, I've found it very practical for my needs. Though I'd seriously consider the X5 over the X6 if you have kids, the boot floor space is the same but with the coupe slant to the back of the X6 there is less volume of space available in the boot.

Out of interest, how do go about washing the car when you live in a apartment?

The bin stores have both power and taps. They are out of the picture. A little more hassle than washing them at my old place though (driveway)

Just empty a few buckets from the window and let gravity take care of the rest :p

Haven't tried this yet, must remember to have the z4 roof up before I do!

Get an X5, the new model came out earlier so you'll find it easier to get a nice one. It's also more practical and better than the X6 at everything other than looking badass at the local gym.

The X5 is better than the X6 at everything? Really they are very similar, with the X6 being lower and less practical in the back / boot. I'd not say that the practicalities make it better than the X6 at everything surely?
Practicality yes. Cheaper, usually.

Well as you say it's basically the same car, only less practical. The interior is the same, the mechanicals are the same, it's the same... only the X5 costs less and is more useful.

The X6 is the Mini Coupe of the the SUV world, compromised in the name of style :p

The X6 is a four seater isnt it?

5 seats is optional.

I'm not disagreeing it's basically the same car, I said it myself.... But that doesn't make the one it's based on 'better in every way' and you know I'm right on this ;) it has been compromised in the name of style, not to everyone's tastes obviously. But I fancied trying to live with one for a bit, and I like it, and it's different from the hundreds of X5's I see all the time :)

I also don't need the additional height of the boot space the X5 would give me over this.

Regardless, saying the X5 is just better in every way is an incorrect statement. Saying the X5 is a more cost effective purchase would have been a more accurate statement Foxy baby ;) I know it's not to your tastes, but there is some serious 'anti X6' vibe on here... not helped by recent postings from one of our members haha!!! :D

What does the X6 do better than an X5 other than style? :p

if the answer is 'nothing' then my statement is correct :D

it's lowered over the X5, marginally, and not that handling is the reason you buy a car like that, but since you wanted something, it handles better than an X5 ***Disclaimer, do not track these vehicles, please god no! lols ***

but even if it was nothing, then your statement would be invalid as it wouldn't make the X5 better in every way than the X6, just better in practicality / cost. Not faster, more economical etc etc, all of which are things cover by 'every way' ;)

is 'brap brap brap brap' a factor that can win this over? :D haha

The X5 is more practical, cheaper, less (but still quite) ugly, but less drug dealery.

Ive never understood the X6. Not even from a "style" point of view, it's proportions are all wrong, it's like a 3 series that's been rear ended and squashed.

this isn't an X6 pictured. It's my old 335i. I raised the suspension and someone crashed into the back of it.

I considered an X6 briefly and my wife put me straight. The X5 we have has been excellent and another is on my potential replacement list.

The X6 is still pretty practical, if you love the look then it is a usable space. The X5 is so much nicer in the back if adults will ever be in there. I am not sure the handling of the X6 is perceptibly that much different from the X5.....may be.

Hey guys first time poster in the Motors section (I frequent the GPU section)

Had an X6 for a while, the 35D:

Loved the style, fun to drive and agile for a car of it's size and width. It takes a load but the rear space is not generous for adults because of the car shape:

My wife hated it because she had problems 'climbing' into it. Her love started when I first drove it home, "what the hell is that!". Mine waned just over a year later and I went back to a 5 Series.

Anyone got a BMW with Havanna brown leather seats? Can't really tell from pictures on BMW AUC website as the lighting is always different, so is this a dark brown or a light brown? I think it looks like mocha.

I'm looking to buy an X3 20d with approx 30k miles on the clock and will likely drive it up to 6k miles p.a. If doing only short journeys (car will never be above 40mph) do I need to worry about the diesel particulate filter (DPF) blocking/sooting up and failing or would this only be relevant once I get to a high mileage, say 75k miles?
