BMW and M Power Owners

New SMG unit, New Clutch and a few other bits and the M3 is back on the road. Will be giving it a good wash and hoover tomorrow. :D

When starting my car in the morning, and setting off it kind of judders (doesn't happen every time), even with the accelerator pressed more down to get it going, any ideas? Obviously quite dangerous when I pull out of the junction at my road first thing.

It's a BMW F20 1 series, i've got a service due in 800 miles, but might take it in early.

Likely to be the clutch/flywheel fairly common fault on the 1 & 3 series + the Mini Countryman. I assume on the cold mornings what ever takes up the tension in the flywheel is stiffer and loosens up once some heat is generated. Going by the forums it is the first indication when it does it when cold and it will gradually get worse over time and start juddering when ever you are pulling away.

If it is this it will be a big bill around 2k for a new clutch and flywheel at the dealer (that's on a Countryman I would have thought the 1 series would be similar).

I would have put a warranty on it straight away but Minstadave's idea may be a good one !!

It's very cheap for the extended warranty on a new shape 1 series, seems mad not to have it. anyway I assumed you bought it from bmw.

No sorry, I bought it privately. Can I still extend the warranty if it has one?

Mx X5 has started going into neutral from drive (did it today at about 30mph). It then doesn't want to go back into gear unless you turn off and back on.

Seems electrical....but what do I know. Any ideas?

Booked in but not for 10 days!
