BMW and M Power Owners

X5 is too big for the roads in Jersey unfortunately, otherwise that was our first choice. Q5 is a possibility but such a boring interior and even though petrol variants exist the choice is extremely limited. Was also looking at Volvo XC60 but same problem.

I could possibly get the DPF removed as there is no legal requirement for it in Jersey but not ideal as that in itself will cost £430 and then the car will be belching out the nasty soot into the environment. Lots of diesels in Jersey so maybe it's not such a big problem... But think I'll look for an X3 with lower mileage to start with, 40k for a three year old car is a bit much, especially when future use will be so little.

On the plus side I bought a 2011 BMW 330i E93 from Sytner today  looking forward to getting it delivered in 2 weeks :D

I guess the obvious answer to this is that if you live on a small island with a blanket 40mph speed limit then buy something other than a diesel 4WD SUV. It's an entirely silly purchase given where you live.

Buy something which isn't compromised in order to bring benefits you can't experience.

Like a nice petrol convertible :p

Would you really want to take the risk with one at the kind of money we will be talking about here though? They're not exactly a world away power or delivery wise from his existing Civic. I wouldn't take the chance - I could honestly only bring myself to buy a 130i, or at an absolute push a 123d (assuming the budget stretches) and hope for the best.

I fancied something with an interior that's a little more premium than the civic! I think the engine is fantastic and apart from the clutch issue that some have are meant to be solid reliable lumps! I just quite like the frumpy shape of the 1 series! Budget isn't that high really - somewhere around 8/9k.

Could always try an accord with the same engine as my civic as they are meant to be better put together!

Honestly, for anything 4 cylinder I'd buy a golf - probably spend even a little less than the budget on a mk5 gti, unless you can get an edition 30

The Accord is a more quality product but doesn't look/feel German which is what I suspect draws you to the 1 - plus it's massive

And that told you that you needed an original 1 Series

Sister has one, goes up and down to Cornwall from Bristol/Gloucester in it and finds it perfectly comfortable. I've done a trip with her and apart from her driving turning me white I found the car very comfortable.

I would probably be wanting it for closer to £30k. That car in that spec can be had for about £37k new after discount (Although it looks it its not that option heavy (which is fine, the spec is good, but dont go thinking its worth a load more as its loaded because its not) as it has three options that I can see, M Sport Plus, Pro Nav and HUD.

335i's been into the dealer who confirmed the wastegates are knackered.

End result - 2 new turbo's now order and Mondial have confirmed cover is in place under the comprehensive insured warranty :D:D Happy days!

It originally went in because the idrive was reporting a rear left brake light failure. The lights actually worked fine on testing and it was diagnosed as the bulb holders causing issues. When diagnosed the dealer said the replacement of the holder would be covered under the warranty but today they have tried to wriggle out of it saying electrical items arent covered by the comprehensive warranty???

From looking at the details of the warranty, I see bulbs & fuses arent covered - I accept that no problem, but its the actual holders that are causing problems not the bulbs! Am I right in thinking im getting palmed off on this part and that cover should engage?

Dont get me wrong, Im happy that circa £2.5k of work is covered but I think the £50 for a new bulb holder should be too?

Have I missed something before I push this on?

I would push them:

Comprehensive Insured Warranty covers all mechanical and electrical components of your vehicle for defects - except the items listed below:

Etc.

You aren't claiming for the bulbs, as you've pointed out, but the bulb holders.

Anybody noticed if BMW have done their annual April fool advert in the press yet? (Just curious, don't buy papers these days):)
