At least its not a 320d :D

Did you not consider a high spec SE over a low spec sport or was there nothing around?

It's actually a friends family car and i whipped it up before it was advertised. I was in the market for a new car but didn't know exactly what! I had a look around before buying it but failed to find anything as good for the same money. It rides pretty well without RF's on and i wasn't keen on the looks of the SE.
The family had it from new and its got *almost* every optional extra on it.

It's not perfect but im very happy with it :)

Waterpump bearing went and threw both belts whilst I was joining the M4 yesterday. I only got it back from MOT work Tuesday, haha. Hopefully I've not done the gasket, didn't drive it for long - just to get it off the motorway.
Back to the CLS for a few days...

Drove a whole junction with no water pump? Not good, at all.

I just bought an e36 for 430 quid?!
I was looking for a cheap run about to drive for a few months after I sell the XF, put in a low bid basically by accident and won it?!
1995 146,000 miles. Let's hope it lasts me till the house purchase is completed and then I will flog it on and get something newer again :)

Went out to start my 530i earlier, turned the key, got a clicking from the starter (I assume it was that) lights dim (interior and exterior) after attempting to start, thought oh crap, new battery time.....

Just tried it again purely out of curiosity, it turned over and fired as normal, no issue whatsoever.

Thinking its most likely the battery,I decided to leave the sidelights on for 30min and see if it would repeat the issue, nope, it started just fine again....

Any thoughts?

Immobiliser?

Don't think it's that mate, neither key works "remotely" I've always just used the door lock to get in and out as the battery's in the keys seem dead, as I understand it, the immobiliser is activated / deactivated via the fob.

The car started again just fine this morning.... ???

Do you have a code reader? I imagine if it failed to start then a log will have been made in the ECU as to what malfunctioned?

My parking sensors on my e46 randomly started working again. Well for a week anyway. Is there anything that triggers them to fail (long beep when going into reverse)? I didn't do anything differently...

Just faulty sensors but the thing is, the E46 parking sensors (I assume E39 is the same sensor too) are very curious in that they almost always fix themselves.

On the 318Ci I had the exact same issue, randomly for a couple of days the long beep would emit in reverse but then it would fix itself and be fixed for several months or a full year.

I once bought a spare set of genuine parking sensors too but by the time I had a weekend free to fit them, the old ones fixed themselves. I lolled and put the spare ones away...

See if your ones fix themselves too over the next few days, if not then make note of which one is the faulty one, it will be the one not clicking when the car is in reverse (engage reverse with the engine off (key in position 2) and put your ear next to each one).

If it's 1 or two then I'll be happy to send you 2 of my spare ones for free. As long as I have 2 spare that is all that matters :p
