BMW and M Power Owners

The boot is only 100 litres bigger than a 1 Series BUT it's the letter box size boot entry which limits its use. I can get 2 full size mountain bikes in the back of a 1 but I couldn't get any bikes in a 6.

Also, for the price and its weight, it's not that powerful - the x35i/d have more power and are lighter.
An Audi S7 has 150bhp more power and is the same RRP.

The more I research the 6 the more I'm going off it. No wonder they have massive discounts.

RRP is irrelevant really, the reality is that you will pay significantly more for an S7 than you will a 640.

So that's 15% more...

Also note that Audi just slapped the A6 interior in the A7 whereas at least BMW gave the 6 a more upmarket interior than the 5. Bmw have attempted to hide the fact the 6 is a 5 coupe yet the A7 really is just a hatchback A6 by the look of it.

It's missing comfort seats and it's before then little mini face lift that happened in 2013 but other than that it looks good. Any thoughts fox?

It it worth trying to find a car with the VDC ?

Worth double-checking the spec, it's listed as having the adaptive LED's which it doesn't.

I personally didn't think VDC made that much of a difference when I tried it. Surround view and the heads up display are the options i'd consider mandatory.

You won't be able to get a roof rack either, so apart from fitting a tow bar there is no way you can transport bikes in or on a 6 Series, which is the only thing that stopped me from buying one.

VDC isn't worth it, comfort seats are nice to have but not a must by any stretch.

Full set of changes came in mid 2014 with the updated wheel, idrive & controller and HUD updates.

M Sport Plus pack is worth finding as it adds the 20" wheels, HK Sound system, HUD and Digital dash. Also suggest the reversing camera as a minimum and surround view as a nice to have.

I think the rear of the 6 looks great, nice sleek and sporty, a good leap ahead in a masculine look vs say the 1, 2, 3 and 5 series.

The beauty of the 6 is that even one with no options is a fantastic car, so anything it has is a bonus. All the real 'must haves' are standard fit - Xenons, Pro Nav, Sports Auto Transmission, 19 inch 351's etc.

Really considering a 6 GC for my next car in April. I'm just find the thought of moving over to a diesel a little hard (I know they do a 640i but they're so rare).

I wish the M6 GC would come down in price to sub £40k.

With a £30-40k budget would you guys go F10 M5 or 640d. I love the design of the 6GC it just seems a little silly buying one over an M5. The extra running costs are a consideration, but not a very big one.

Seems like a rather drastic contrast choosing between those two, a high performance M car vs a diesel?

They are completely different concepts, do you want a megasaloon or not?

Well I guess that's the issue. I'd be happy with a 650i GC if I could get one, But I can't. So I'm stuck between the 640d and the M5, unless of course there other options I'm overlooking?

An S7 would fit but I don't really get on with the looks.

I want a large, fast, well kitted saloon. Both fit the criteria, just one is fastish, the other is crazy fast.

One is a large, fast well kitted saloon that has big tank range and use-able everyday running costs.

The other is a large mega-saloon that drinks fuel, costs a fortune to maintain but is far more special.

I think the decision makes itself and the fact you even need to ask means you'd probably find a 640d a more suitable choice, if that makes sense.
