BMW and M Power Owners

Sorry but you're both wrong, LED angel eyes on the pre-LCI E9x look absolutely ****. The halos on them aren't designed for LEDs so the light isn't evenly distributed (admittedly it isn't on the standard halogen bulbs either) and it just looks chav. The orange from the halogen is slightly more aggressive and looks infinitely better. Also the LEDs give out far too much (harsh) light, they're side lights, not main beams, they should complement the xenon's, not be "OMG M8 GOT LED ANGELZ INNIT".

No, you're wrong :p

neighbour across the street was talking to me today about our cars, my e90 and his stunning e46 m3. he recently got his diamond cut alloys refurbished and after about 3 months they started to corrode.

is there anything that can be done other than getting them redone?

he's is more annoyed that the place he got them done only gives a months guarantee.

Don't be a ****. It's a personal preference, it's not 'wrong' that I prefer the LED's.

Idiot.

Eeee, doesn't look like they were finished very well. I'd take it back to the shop he got them done at.

he did. guy hit him with the 1 month guarantee then said he will do him a deal, 50 quid a wheel to fix it. neighbour had to walk away from the guy to calm down.

Seems rare to find such an original and low mileage 10 year old 330 like that (though who on earth bought that new to do just 4k a year in it, nuts). Please don't spoil it with nasty chav eBay mods, it looks wonderful just as it is.

Jesus, what a **** take. Did he manage to settle on a realistic deal?

Is he using an aggressive wheel cleaner? Might be the cause. I know stuff like SDOC100 can be damn aggressive.

Only mod is the damn angel lights haha.

And yea! Previous owner once did 2k in a year!!! The stamps are on the ball as well. Last BMW stamp in the service book was at 43k, all at regular intervals as well.

Bagged yourself a nice car there mate at that mileage. Perfect previous owner!

You should get the gearbox oil changed. BMW say "sealed for life" but it's widely acknowledged that this is BS. I've seen the state of the oil coming out from 10 year old gearbox with 80k miles on. It's filthy.

Is it really worth the extra strain on the engine and gearbox?

Personally, I think it is.

It also gives better economy, which for me doing many motorway miles will add up and pay for it's self in 12 months.

As for the strain, when will this really be present? Unless I'm hooning it every chance I get, the engine/gearbox won't be under any extra pressure realistically.

It will likely be around 270-280bhp from 230bhp (give or take due to age). Then from 500NM to around 600NM (give or take) of torque.

If it was a manual, I'd be a little more skeptical, but as it's an auto box, it will be fine.

You know, I've read this a few times on varying forums. I think it wouldn't hurt to get it done at the next service.

I plan on getting my gearbox and diff oils changed when I have the brakes switched over later in the year. Stick to dealer oil or a better alternative available?

Just use what BMW recommend for the gearbox and diff. They should change all the transmission fluids during an inspection 2 anyway.

Ah sweet, I didn't know if gearbox was included in that, in which case it's been done already last year :p

2 things to cross off then. Radiators are cheap, I will probably replace that before Winter, I'm on 72k miles now.

Seems to me that guy is a complete crook, stupid really as he shouldn't get any repeat business with practices like that. Tell your friend to look at the guidance online from trading standards regarding The Supply of Goods and Services Act, looks like this work would blatantly breach requirements for it to be "done with reasonable care and skill" and be "of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose".

Unless it's bowed or otherwise damaged just leave the rad alone - replace it if/when it goes or if you've got other items to swap out meaning you'll be draining the coolant anyway

I've just lost the centre caps from my two front wheel on the m135i for a second time. Joke!! They just fall out.

Blu tack (other mild adhesive substances to sit on the inside of your caps are available)
