BMW and M Power Owners

No, because the new 3 series will be 2019 and auto express/ auto bild is the daily mail of the car magazine business. Just another random photoshop.

I've decided i'm going to buy a F10 5 series, i've decided i like the 525D i looked at last week after visiting Audi 3 times, Jaguar, MB etc, but i keep getting drawn back to the 525D Msport. I loved the looks inside and out so i've phoned them back and asked them to play with the figures again and i'll buy it if they can get close to what i wanted to pay (monthly cost).
They came back with an improved APR (4%) and knocked £500 off the price. Which brought it to within £20 / month of what i was prepared to pay) I told them if i could get 2 years BMW warranty thrown in i'd sign on the dotted line. They came back and accepted my counter offer. I'm happy with the 525D, it drove nice enough for me and seems a good mix of performance and economy (Although is the 57mpg they claim anywhere close?)

Anyway, i pick the car up next Monday i think. I was adamant on an audi for quattro for where i work but after trying the BMW, no audi was going to cut it for me. I decided it was daft missing out on what i really wanted for the sake of a few weeks weather a year.

So, onto my next question. Would the 17" SE wheels fit onto the M sport as i want to get a set of wheels and winter tyres and it seems much more viable and cost effective to go for 17" over the standard 18's.

(I'll post pics when i collect the car.) (I also expect some abuse from Fox as to why i should have got the 530D instead :D

I decided it was a daft idea looking for 4wd for maybe 2 weeks of the year

March 2013.

I'm currently driving a 64 plate 116D :(.

Actually, it isn't that bad, it's grown on me. Yes, it's slow, but i've been playing with the Eco pro setting, it's quite addictive trying to get as much out of the tank as possible. I'll probably do the same in mine too. Will mine have the handwriting recognition on the wheel or is that on a newer model? I have pro nav.

It won't, that didn't come in until LCI in September 2013.

It's still the 'Next Big thing/CIC High' version of the Pro nav though, it's very good.

And to be honest, the writing thing doesn't really suit RHD cars unless you are in the 10% of the population that is left handed...

I am left handed :D

I won't miss it though as i never had it.

Also, what exactly is 'professional radio with single cd', what do you get over business radio. Can't seem to find a definitive answer. Is it in between business and Harmon kardon? More speakers?

I'm amazed you've bought it, I don't think it was a particularly good buy and I said at the time I didn't quite understand your enthusiasm for it's apparent rarity. If you are happy thats great but you could have done much better than effectively impulse buying the first car you found. It reminds me of pretty much every car you've told us about on here actually, you did the same with your last 5 Series I think :D

But to answer your question yes the 17's will fit.

Sorry for the short standard exhaust video. Phone died as I was making it.

The stock exhaust had the rasp to add to the note which the ACS loses going by those videos :(

The ACS one sounds meaty, but a muffled kind of meaty, like the rasp is being subdued.

Never subdue the rasp, man!

I think my original exhaust was blowing a little. It crackled on lift off which it didn't do when I bought the car you can hear this in the video. I also seem to have improved performance with the new box.

New box is less restrictive I imagine, did you run at the RR? Be interesting to see if it's made any difference to power, though yeah I guess it will now rev happier?

Yeah I did. I got 223hp 223lb/ft. Normal is 228bhp and 221lb/ft.

I also had it remapped, serviced since then. Seems like it has better pull from 2krpm before it felt like pressure was being lost. Also at the rr the standard box had a stuck flap. I removed it all together so again that could have had an impact.

I was going to import the uuc corsa exhaust from the states but the money is silly for what it essentially is. Since the rest of the car had acs parts I wanted to keep it like that.

The only regret i had with the last '5', was buying a high miler, other than that i quite liked it, i've not regretted any purchase i've made. I kept coming back to this one as i liked what it offered, it has the perfect colour combo that i would choose, it has pro nav, the rest is standard but it's kit i wanted, DAB, heated seats, advanced bluetooth. I liked how it drove, and i'm happy with the deal i struck, i'm comfortable with the repayments, and i've got 2 years trouble free motoring ahead of me. I'm happy with it anyway. Also, looking on AT, there isn't another 525d auto with under 20k miles and under 3 years old within 100 miles of me for under £25K so it's not that bad a price.

Does anyone have experience of the BMW insured warranty on older vehicles. I was looking at a 48000 mile 2009 E91 which would mean the reasonably priced warranty is available. However I expect at, say 6-10 years old and 50-90k miles, items could have issues which could debatably be wear and tear and not be covered.

Also, what happens if BMW carry out diagnosis, decide its not a warranty item and land you with a hefty diagnostic bill to pay.

Interested in your real world examples.

What kind of deal did you get ono the 525?

Effectively £1200 off. Book price trade in for my A6 is £2.5k, they gave me £3.2k, then £500 off the price of the car. It was up for £24480 so i got it for £23280.

Mileage makes a lot of difference though. All my cars have had quite hight miles. There was a 535d at the same place, same age with 58k miles on it but that was £2.5k more, i wanted low miles, at least in 2 years when my warranty finishes i should still get a decent warranty for not too much. Also, you'll just have to replace your DPF sooner than me :p

I'm not playing 'who's got the biggest penis' games. I'm happy with what i got and for what i got it for, it's hardly a terrible car and in the grand scheme of things, it's good value when there isn't another within 100 miles for even £25k.

And as for headlights, this is the first car i've had with any type of xenon, so it'll still be an improvement over halogen. I'm not too fussed about dual xenon, what i've never had i won't miss. I will be seeing more of the inside, and that's what i like most about it :)
