BMW and M Power Owners

Metallic is always an option, unless you get a car with it as standard, like the 340i and 535i/d for example.

On the 520D M Sport Metallic paint is a £675 option. Alpine White and Jet Black are standard colours.

Yes but almost always it's free on a lease because solid paint is residual poorer and lease companies usually release this. It's about the only free option on a lease.

It was not ever included when I was looking earlier this year. It seems to depend on the specific deal available.

It's a bit like 'free postage' or 'O% APR', the cost is covered by someone, somewhere.
That Select Contracts leasing price is the cheapest 520D M Sport deal available and as such it doesn't include Met Paint

This deal costs more but includes 'Free' Metallic paint : https://www.nationwidevehiclecontra...-sport-step-auto-inc-metallic-paint-68327.htm

My lease car Met Paint was a £650 option.

Another cheap 520D M Sport lease without Met included

It does seem a shame they don't smartly recalculate residuals rather than bill you the entire cost of the options. I'd love to live in this world where a 2 year old base spec car is worth exactly the same as one with a pile of options but the reality is that isn't the case.

It puts every bargain lease out of contention for me because for the sorts of cars I like there is always a couple of options I'd want to add. I'm not even that fussy - on a new 5 Series M Sport lease the only things I'd add would be Pro Nav and Sports Auto Transmission - a whole 1300 quid worth of options.

This makes the 4 Series GranCoupe a good candidate if you find a bargain lease as everything you need is standard. Well, except for an interior that isn't crap. But you can't have everything..

This was posted in the babyBMW forum showing option cost and the impact on the Guaranteed Future Value (GFV) (applicable to pre Sept 2015 1 Series models)

Met Paint adds nothing to the GFV

The residual value and the GFV are not one and the same..

True, but BMW are not going to give you more for a car with an automatic gearbox when the GFV says that it adds no value. You can be sure that they'll advertise it for more than a manual car though.

In a world where everyone loves to PCP, the GFV kinda is the residual value.

So i've just had a phone call back from select leasing i think it was. They had 3 520D M sports, one carbon black and 2 mineral grey, on 2 year lease, £287 a month on a 9/23.

She tried telling me i couldn't add any options. i Said i'd want Pro nav at the very least, she said i could add it at an extra £60 + vat, then add metallic paint cost to the price at £15 a month, (even though they are ready??) Over 3 or 4 years that would be over £400 / month.

That's close to £400 a month with just those options. I won't be going that route. I'm off to BMW garage now to see what i can do. I'll still be happy whatever the outcome, at least i know what to expect from the leasing companies now.

FYI Wez:

530d M Sport Saloon, Auto, Mineral Grey Metallic with Sun Protection pack. This is £445.55 per month on 3+23, 15K miles PA. Excess is 11.4p. All figures include VAT and there is no admin fee. This is through CarDealersDeals.com (part of National Fleet Services).

I think that's a good deal.

The 520d m-sport with 10k miles would be 9184 over 2 years
The 530d m-sport with 15k miles would be 11584 over 2 years

You might be able to get the price down with only 10k miles...

Otherwise, 100/month for the 6-cylinder + higher mileage allowance sounds good to me... but if you won't use the miles, then not-so-good for you...

After 13 years with a 90HP mini one I have finally upgraded. Love it, although I regret buying at this time of year to save a few quid as you can tell by the photos :P

Fully loaded, love the i drive system.

Fastest bmw Under 7k would be an old e39 m5, but what a strange sole criteria...

Yes very odd, why the 'fastest' and not the 'best reasonably quick' BMW?

The fastest would as Jez says probably be an E39 M5 but it'll be a huge pointless moneypit and a waste of time.

OK so I was not very specific. Maybe I should change the question to:

"What BMW would you recommend that fits these qualities:

Fast
Spacious enough for 5 to sit in quite often
Big boot a bonus
Isn't more than say 8 years old
Fuel type not important
Manual gearbox preferred "

:)
