BMW and M Power Owners

sorry I was not referring to Wez, just posted it as it seemed like a good deal, but I thought he paid 25k for his one assuming you can get 2k of this its only a few K more.
Fair enough :)

Looking at the search though, there are some others around for the same price with not much more miles. And they're not brown ;)

Either way, it really is a lot of car for the money at £30k. They're still €45-50k on this side of the channel :(

Was randomly speccing up a lease F10 the other day and OMFG the colours are so dull. It's literally grey, grey, grey, blue, grey, beige, beige grey, grey, white or black.
There's not even a green or red. So depressing :(

I would say that the mineral grey is certainly a few shades lighter. I LOVE my Sophisto Grey colour and would want all future cars in this colour, lol. It's soooo dark, but clearly not black. I think it's probably my favourite colour car I've owned, and can see why he wants it.

And as a result I'd probably spec Mineral Grey but avoided Sophisto.

Different for new car buyers of course but by the time they are 2+ year old AUC's the paint is wonderfully swirled and marked because it's too dark :(

Nothing a bit of paint correction can't fix, and you have to admit, when polished, darker cars look much better than lighter cars, the 1 series i'm driving now is Glacier silver, i hate silver cars. They just don't look as shiny after a good polish. That's just a personal opinion though.

You realise yours is Sophisto Grey II and not Sophisto Grey, right?

Sophisto Grey is a xirallic paint finish and looks absolutely stunning in direct sunlight. However it was made by only one paint facility which was heavily affected by the 2011 Tsunami in Japan. As a result they couldn't produce enough paint so from late 2011 until about mid 2013 BMW introduced an alternative - Sophisto Grey II. This is a conventional metallic and lacks the deep lustre of the Xirallic finish.

The original Sophisto Grey came back later in 2013.

While this may be true, and tbh, i won't be disappointed if it is true, i would be interested in going the 'new' route for the same money (obviously), however, it doesn't look like i can get the sophistico grey that i like as a choice for a new car.
Any communication i've had so far has been over the phone, i have not signed anything, nor have a even seen a finance agreement so i could still say i'm not happy with it. I will try the play dumb and say ' i thought it had xenons', and i wanted xenons but have since learned that they are infact projectors, (which is true, but ignorant on my part).
If i do get to change my mind, it'll only be a bonus as ultimately, as appreciative of any feedback, negative or positive, the car is ultimately for me, and only needs to fit my needs, and i will still be a happy bunny if a drive out in that car, to me, it is still worth it. I have always made my own decisions when it comes to cars, and to be fair, i've never bought a lemon. And lets face it, at least i'm not dropping £23k on a new Insignia or something. :p

Well, if you haven't made any commitments yet, then you're still open to changing easily.

I interpreted somewhere previously in this thread that you had already signed on the dotted line / dropped the deposit or arranged to drop your audio off when it was ready.

Take them that deal, try them and see if they'll match it.

You could always go through a different company too, to find the right car for you... what I posted was only from my inbox, there are loads to choose from... perhaps some even cheaper and I get the impression what they were offering is competitive to your used price for something new?

But that blue that almost has a slight turquoise hint to it... that's perdy :D

This is where I'm unsure, I've agreed a deal in principle over the phone and they have performed the necessary checks but I've not signed or seen any paperwork yet. .
I'll go in today and explain that I thought it had xenons and have since learned they are projectors, and ask them if I can xfer the deposit onto a car with xenons as that was one of my requirements and ask to price up a new model with Pro Nav upgrade. What other options would people suggest. I don't need a HUD or parking camera, these will just bump the price up.

If they say no, I'll tell them I'll go away and think on it and see if I can get a deal elsewhere and forfeit the deposit if I get a deal worth more than the 500 I put down.

Surely they would lose more than 500 if they lost a new car sales taking into account that if I hand it back after 3 or 4 years they will get more profit again from the resale.

I would ask for the deposit back on the basis of no xenons. Then ask them to price up a new car for you. Spec it up on the likes of Broadspeed, or carwow first, before you go. Get them to do their best, then show them what you have from broadspeed / carwow, and see if they can get close.

It wasn't advertised with them though so I'm not sure how useful that'll be.

He also needs to be careful about pulling out of the deal and then subsequently not being able to get a deal he wants on something else.

I'm not pulling out, i'm going to make sure i can change to a new car first, then if not, i'm going to explain that i'm going away to consider my options, and to see whether it would be financially better for me to consider buying elsewhere. (whether the savings over 4 years would be greater than the £500 i stand to lose). Which, in the case of the 520d m sport for £270 a month. then yes it would be beneficial.

However, even now, i keep thinking that i still like the 525D purely because it's that bit quicker and it's twin turbo so less lag. And Fox is correct, it wasn't advertised with xenons, i made an assumption as i was unaware, i just assumed the projector was single xenon.

We'll see. Either way, i won't be devastated :D

So i've just had a phone call back from select leasing i think it was. They had 3 520D M sports, one carbon black and 2 mineral grey, on 2 year lease, £287 a month on a 9/23.

She tried telling me i couldn't add any options. i Said i'd want Pro nav at the very least, she said i could add it at an extra £60 + vat, then add metallic paint cost to the price at £15 a month, (even though they are ready??) Over 3 or 4 years that would be over £400 / month.

That's close to £400 a month with just those options. I won't be going that route. I'm off to BMW garage now to see what i can do. I'll still be happy whatever the outcome, at least i know what to expect from the leasing companies now.

Please please please, don't buy a 525D with no Xenons for 24k, there are 530's out there with much better spec for the same money :)

That makes sense to me.
You can't add options to cars already available, if you want the options then delivery of the car will be longer.

You found the same issue as I did when looking at leasing BMW's (any high end German manufacturer)- the options. There is always something missing from the standard spec on the 3 or 5 which can quickly bump up the monthly cost by £50 per month. (Pro Nav is £54 per month over a 24 month lease)

If you're going down the leasing route then you either need to go with the standard spec or swallow the extra required ££(£'s) per month.

That's because they're reclaiming the full options price in 2 years... if you were to have it for 4 years, then it would be an extra 30/month... or thereabouts.

The extra for metallic paint is a little odd, however...

This is a good comparison site, the one i linked to was just an easy find for me as it was an email i received... some other companies may be better / may already have better base stock with options you want for a better price.

Metallic is always an option, unless you get a car with it as standard, like the 340i and 535i/d for example.

On the 520D M Sport Metallic paint is a £675 option. Alpine White and Jet Black are standard colours.
