BMW and M Power Owners

This was in my email inbox, didn't even need to go to google...

On the same site... a 530d M-Sport is #360/month inc vat

So how would i work that? take the deal into the showroom i'm buying from?

Edit, actually, that's leasing, not PCP, i'll have no option to buy at the end.

Are you really telling me the sum total of research you did was to look at the stock offers on the bmw website!?!?!

Even this thread could and did tell you more than that!!

No, i looked on the lloyds website where i have my deposit.

There's no fundamental difference to how the lease and PCP monthly payments are calculated... even with a lease, you can usually ask them if you want to purchase at the end.

You can take the deal into the showroom if you want, it's been around for a while - it was more an example of what simple research can find and what's available.

Just have a chat with your dealer, see if they can help you find something like that... the reasons why they might help you are in a previous post.

If you indicated that you just wanted to change to this deal after agreeing to a contract, then they would be less likely to help and more likely to keep your deposit, so it wouldn't be worthwhile.

You might get lucky, but I doubt they will give you the same deal as that broker, franchises don't do it... but they might be able to get close if that's something you might like.

535d pricing defies logic, they are thousands and thousands more than even an equivalent 530d. Dealers all seem to want £28k+ for nice spec 5 year old examples. It's bonkers.

Fox, is it the same for a 535D GT? My dads is 2010, 55k miles but a SE with a good spec inc sports seats. I don't really know what it would sell for but I had it in my head around £18k.

I don't think the 535D is worth the extra as most of the extra power/torque means the traction control light is flashing a surprising amount of times, in the wet it is nearly impossible to make quick progress and not have it flashing. I expect the new 5 series will have the 535D as X-Drive only like the current 335D

As you say they do generally have a better spec which might make it worth going for one.

Really? I'm surprised by that as my 640d which has a slightly more powerful version of that engine very rarely triggers the traction control unless I act like a total hooligan when launching in the wet and I get the very occasional flash in dry conditions.

I don't understand why anything without xenons is such a no-go for some of you on here. Yes xenons provide a cleaner, brighter light and look nicer, but halogens work fine and certainly should not be the deciding factor in buying a particular BMW or not.

If I were buying a modern, expensive car I'd want the best tech possible. There's always room for compromise but I don't think the things that let you see when driving at night ought to be one of them.

The fact that my 2007 Mazda3 has HIDs yet people are still buying new executive/luxury cars with halogen headlights both amuses and saddens me.

I'm amazed you've bought it, I don't think it was a particularly good buy and I said at the time I didn't quite understand your enthusiasm for it's apparent rarity. If you are happy thats great but you could have done much better than effectively impulse buying the first car you found. It reminds me of pretty much every car you've told us about on here actually, you did the same with your last 5 Series I think :D

But to answer your question yes the 17's will fit.

From a serial impulse buyer, Wez what have you done :(

25k on a 525d :o

Surely you must realise that it's an offer and nothing more - it doesn't mean thats the best deal you can get  You must realise this as you didn't pay the sticker price for your 525d did you?

Of course franchises do it - where do you think the cars from? They are all UK main dealer supplied. Some franchises play ball, others don't.

There "may" be an option to buy at the end, but that shouldn't matter anyway. The chances are, once you have had the car that long, you can then buy a 2/3 year old one for probably not a huge amount more than your GMFV anyway. If you want to keep a car like that. Or find out what auction the lease company will punt it to, and buy it there.

In the meantime though, you'll be driving around in a brand new motor, without some key missing spec, for £35 a month less than your second hand one. Or a 530d for around the same money.

Personally, I'd be looking to the dealer to see about getting you in a brand new one, for probably around the same money.

Are them wheels manky? They look dirtier than Christina Aguilera to me...

Yup, they've not bothered to clean them.

Given they manage to clean a customer car after a service in approximately 7 minutes I've no idea why they would photograph a car for sale without cleaning it first but it seems to happen quite a lot.

Most bizarre.

With the traction off in damp conditions, i've had the wheels spinning in a 640d all the way up to fourth gear... decent tyres too.

Franchises will very rarely match such a lease offer.

Lease companies buy as fleet and get a substantial discount - your average punter buying a single vehicle is unlikely to be able to match the deal... you might get lucky, but it's more rare than not.

Also, now that he has committed to purchase the other one, they are less likely to match that deal than if he was a "new" customer...

15,000 miles in 3 years? 530d makes the perfect car!

? you mean 5,000 miles per year? Who would buy a diesel for 5k/year?

15k/year... OK.

edit: ohhhh i see... the one advertised only has 15k on the clock... lol!

Agree with this, especially as they'll have 'qualified' him during the purchase process and have probably worked out as much as we have on here that he'll just go along with whatever as long as it's inside his 'monthly budget', so they'll gamble that he'll go along anyway and they've probably got more profit in the AUC than on a factory order :p

Also seems not many people know that the best time to buy a car is:

1) When it's raining
2) Month-end
3) Quarter-end

Find the most nervous/eager looking sales guy as he's the one who hasn't hit his targets...

hehehe

While this may be true, and tbh, i won't be disappointed if it is true, i would be interested in going the 'new' route for the same money (obviously), however, it doesn't look like i can get the sophistico grey that i like as a choice for a new car.
Any communication i've had so far has been over the phone, i have not signed anything, nor have a even seen a finance agreement so i could still say i'm not happy with it. I will try the play dumb and say ' i thought it had xenons', and i wanted xenons but have since learned that they are infact projectors, (which is true, but ignorant on my part).
If i do get to change my mind, it'll only be a bonus as ultimately, as appreciative of any feedback, negative or positive, the car is ultimately for me, and only needs to fit my needs, and i will still be a happy bunny if a drive out in that car, to me, it is still worth it. I have always made my own decisions when it comes to cars, and to be fair, i've never bought a lemon. And lets face it, at least i'm not dropping £23k on a new Insignia or something. :p
