BMW and M Power Owners

The prices asked for nearly new used cars are hilarious at times, a new 340i M Sport is 30k from a broker! What were they asking for the used one?

Surely some of that stuff is standard on a 3 Series? They've all got heated seats, they've all got a sliding armest. Sports Auto is a good shout though as is Professional Media pack. Xenon headlights are also essential on a 1/2 year old one.

Other than that the rest is just 'nice to have' stuff. Advance Parking Pack is cool but you'll find it really hard to find on a used 320d and they have rear PDC anyway as standard.

No they seem to have that removed now and you have to buy them as additional options :( Shame really as when we got our C Class last year quiet a few things such as heated seats, the park thingy (more of a gimmick I think? but the Mrs likes it) came as standard on the sports trim and above.

'Full options', good luck with that unless you really mean 'some options' :p

Look at a discounted new one before paying 33k for a used one.
Yep, they are few and far between but you can get the odd bargain nearly new with a list of nearly every option (HUD is rare for example) for about £12k under list.
Never really considered brand new, as once I added options prices began to get ridiculous again. Any website recommendations for me to have a quick browse of?

Just be realistic with options, loads of them you don't really need anyway - just go for the essentials like upgraded lights, M Sport Plus, Pro Nav and a few other bits and pieces and it'll feel like much better value for similar money to a used one with a load of kit you'd never have cared about anyway.

BMW gave me this to test out over the weekend (it's a 520d with M Sport Plus).

All in all I'm very impressed with it, such a low amount of road noise and a very smooth ride even with the M Sport suspension which I found to be a very good balance between comfort and sportiness. It can more than hold its own with the vast majority of traffic and whips up to 80 quite effortlessly. There were a few situations where I'd probably have liked the 30d, but I don't think I'd be too unhappy with a 20d, but as ever it'll depend on price differences. The figures they gave me for a 30d and 35d are very close, so I'd most likely go for the latter, if I went 3 litre.

Silver isn't my favourite colour, but it grew on me. I'd go for carbon black or mineral grey over it though.

The interior is great, though this one didn't have Pro Media, so the screen looks far too small. It didn't ruin the car like I thought it might, but it looks silly with so much plastic either side, the wider screen should really be standard (thankfully it's inexpensive). I'm not sure how I feel about the aluminium, it's nice but it's quite bright and there's a lot of it... I quite like that dark wood trim, assuming no piano black, or similar.

Definitely at the top of my list for my next car, it was pretty much what I expected and didn't disappoint. I'll have to try a 535d and see just how good it is.

Cheers Fox, much appreciated.

Wondered about booking my 15year old e39 in for one too, a mate did this with his 320d and was given a 530d for the afternoon - I expect I'll be offered a bus ticket.... :D

Yeah, they are giving me a courtesy car aswell. Had an email confirming that i get a courtesy car as a special request even though i didn't request anything.

Ill not even bother anyway, dropping it off and jumping straight into the work van. Plus ill be in my ****ted up work gear thats covered in flux and gas paste, so i doubt they'll be best impressed :p

Amazed they give cars out for VHC's, they only take 10-15 minutes

Surprised about this too, I may give it a try to see what / if they offer me anything, were I to drop off my car it would be on the way to work for a shift of upto 15hours, I may blag something..... :D

Highly doubt it tbh :/

Lucky if you get anything decent. All I ever get is 118d's, or did get a 220d active tourer once (which wasn't actually as horrible as I expected).

I've started getting an rubbing / abrasive noise from my driver side rear wheel. It started quite suddenly with a very small clunk. It is intermittent (for instance I didn't hear it at all on my 3 mile drive this morning). It made a similar noise last year which turned out to the be the handbrake shoe / handbrake drum which was falling apart and had rusted bits spinning around in it. It was replaced. Could the same part have gone in about 1 year / 8,000 miles? Its an 346 330ci

What does pro-nav give over Business Nav please?

On the 3 series/4series in the showroom I saw that the screen fills the housing a bit more, however with the position of the screen it didn't look too bad, where on the 5 it just looks terrible. What other features does Pro give over the business?

Thanks
