Why do they bother keeping it on the site for 43k when this is what is actually going on

It's almost like such engines are not intended for use in genuinely sporty cars.
Despite the fact I can imagine how insufferable a diesel engine is in a convertible, you'll doubtless have noticed that paired with that gearbox it's actually pretty quick. Now imagine it in, say, a large saloon car and you can see how the engine has many strengths.
It is, of course, a ridiculous choice for somebody who wants a 'genuinely sporty' car in much the same as as the S54 engine is bloody awful for anyone who wants an effortless executive cruiser.
x30d cars are always highly competent cars. They are quick, they are economical and they don't sound *totally* awful.
But they obviously don't stir any feeling or generate any excitement. They fulfill their purpose in life - nothing more and nothing less. And as said, you wouldn't want a high revving, rough and ready engine like the S54 in a 5/7 series.

Perhaps they meant a 6 Series, which is sort of a coupe/cab version of a 5 seris?
Saying that, he didn't specify it was a convertible, just that "I was doing 163 mph down the A19 with the roof off" maybe it just fell off?
He was saying he owned a 740i, a Supra, a tuned 300 BHP 1.9 TDI Golf and a Fiat 500.
They only thing he talked about was how he could do 80MPH around a supermarket carpark in his Supra. But he had driven to work in a Fiat 500.
Just checked and there isn't a 640i, nearest I can see is 645ci.
I stopped believing him the moment he said he had 4 cars when he is doing a marketing apprenticeship for £3.30 an hour. All the rest came later when I pressed him for more information.
Sigh, it's really sad to see this sort of irrational crap happening in the car market again and again and again. It shouldn't cost more than a new M4.
