BMW and M Power Owners

The light has gone now. I am sure it was to do with the hand brake as the previous seller just adjusted it. Going to buy the cable and DL the software. I think a lot of the jobs can be tackled yourself, which is what I'll do.

Oh you bought one?

Yep :) I bought a 330d Sport Touring in silver grey. 2004 facelift, 122k on the clock. FBMWSH, just been serviced and MOT'd, 2 previous owners. Minor rust on the rear arch, which I'll get sorted. Paid £4k for it. Pretty happy with it so far apart from the light incident!

Me again, so found a car I like the look of, but it's 148 miles away from myself, and me being me, i'd like to kill two birds with one stone. Basically, i'd like to get that AA car check/road test on the car, now I can either get it done before i've seen the car, then go up there and be happy with it and drive it back that day. Or, go up and see it, come home, get the AA check, then go back up there and get it? Shall I stop being so lazy?
What car is it? BMW?

Something I've been wondering for when I get myself a BMW in a few years time, if I was going to take out the comprehensive warranty, is there any need to get an AA/RAC check carried out before I buy the car?

If anything is wrong with the car, would the warranty not just fix it? I alway's read how great the BMW warranty is.

Or am I being naive and an AA/RAC check is still worth doing?

At the moment, you can opt to get the BMW Emergency service, which is like having the top spec RAC/AA service; plus it covers you in Europe. It depends what is wrong with the car as there is varying levels of cover and excesses. However no warranty will cover any items under wear and tear i.e. worn clutch, brakes etc.

No idea if it will be like that in a few years time though!

Thanks for the info

Ordered a 116i sport with comfort package and front rear parking distance control, metallic white, can't wait, I heard the lead time is 6-12 weeks, does that sound reasonable?
Sounds like a very basic spec.

If the lead time was unreasonable there's probably not much you can do about it!!! Although for such a basic spec you'd hope it was nearer the 6 weeks.

What's the problem with LED angel eyes? That's exactly what the LCIs use, except they use a bulb for each ring rather than the 1 per headlight that the pre-LCIs use.

This is a pic of mine with my old 20W LEDs fitted. I have now upgraded them to 40W and they are now brighter but not excessively so.

You can't get 80W Angel Eye LEDs to my knowledge. Generally sellers call them 80W when actually they are 2x40W bulbs. Mine are a genuine 40W per bulb with huge heatsinks and little cooling fans.

Sorry I meant 40W. I bought 20w and they were crap.

Black internal grilles. The chrome surround is still there. The 35i and 35is have silver internal grilles. I CBA to find images and save them to photobucket. Google it.

Enough of your silly tinsle grills.

Just had a google see if anyone has successfully put the N54 engine from a 335 into an E46. That would be awesome, done a quick google search and found a few people get half way through the project then just disappear.

Into an E46 M3? Not sure if that's cool or not. The S54 may be old tech, but in terms of "M" it's better than an N54 or N55.

Really enjoying my 330d so far. The ride is much more comfortable with less road noise than my Z4 and having a big boot has been amazing. Helped my sister move house at the weekend and managed to get so much in. I've had the front pads replaced as well as the handbrake and shoes refurbished (£200 all in) and it's running with no issues (for the time being!).
