BMW and M Power Owners

So, M-Sport+ with Pro Nav, Black Panel and through load? Looks great. RTTI is VERY helpful in my experience.

How you enjoying the new steering wheel?

I don't even have a clue what any of that means :p

M-Sport+ was a package containing the wheels, HK stereo, tints and on the saloons, the spoiler.

And the LCI has the new steering wheel, which I much prefer, but Fox has always been adamant that the older ones were better.

Probably the best feature of the LCI is the plastic surround for the seat switches isn't made by Fisher Price and doesn't rattle and creak around EVERY SINGLE CORNER on EVERY SINGLE pre LCI F10 EVER MADE.

Were you not tempted by a 535d?

I wasn't that fussed, it was a case of whichever came up first. I tried to buy a pre LCI 535d a few months ago but the dealer wasn't playing ball. They've still got it today and in hindsight I think another pre LCI would have been a bit daft anyway.

It's not as if 0-60 in 5.8 is slow :p

Car started crying at me yesterday saying it needed 1ltr of oil.

Rang BMW and they said this is normal. 1ltr every 1k miles is normal, i have done 5k miles so guess thats good right?

1ltr every 1k miles is RX8 oil consumption...

You're on a N53 right? That sounds acceptable.

Looking at the service history of my N52, it last had an oil change July last year, or around 12k miles ago. The oil level is half way to needing a top up. Not bad, better than a litre every 600 miles in the S2000.

The car is telling me another 6k miles until it needs an oil change - seems like a long interval. I thought it was done at the same time as the brake pads in January.

Do you guys stick to the BMW service intervals or change your oil on a yearly basis / every 10k miles ish?

I'm surprised it's worth the cost for what is effectively an identical car.
If it had more options like HUD or comfort seats or whatever else Fox thinks I think is absolutely necessary in a BMW then it would make sense, but I fail to see the point in a 530d to LCI 530d 'upgrade'.

It even looks the bloody same!

Having just accepted a job offer my annual mileage is going to drop from 12k+ to under 6k. I'm thinking of selling my 630i convertible and going for an M6 convertible. I love everything about the 630i however feel like it could do with more power. Obviously the M6 is going to cost a lot more in regards to running cost, however my mileage is dropping drastically and I've also got a pay rise to go with it so hoping that would cancel it out somewhat. Anyone here got an M6? Running costs compared to the 630i? Things to look out for?

Just had a quick look and came across this one which is under BMW warranty which would probably be a good idea on one of these?

I wanted an F10 to keep long term. I had a choice - keep my current one, which wasn't the specification I wanted and either live with that or spend not inconsiderable amounts of money retrofitting the bits I wanted and continuing to pay £1k a year for a warranty. Or change it now for one that was what I wanted. Initially I tried to find a good 5-6 year old one but they are such poor value for money that I ended up just going for the LCI instead.

Older F10's cost money - they still depreciate yet you've also got to keep the warranty going if you want the sort of no-hassle ownership I want. Just like the E39 got in the end, as it's depreciation slowed down it's ongoing maintenance costs began to significantly increase meaning despite getting older it wasn't getting any cheaper to keep. You'd be surprised how close in cost it can end up being to just moving to something newer - as many people in, say, the leasing deals thread are finding. One of the big benefits of AUC cars in the UK are that you can almost always get a 2 year warranty included which saves you a cool 2 grand over the cost of buying it yourself.

Now I have one I'd like to keep long term, just like I did with my 530i :)

As for it looking the same - this is of course intentional. I wanted to retain everything I liked whilst changing what I didn't and one of the things I liked was the colour. Although the shape has remained the same quite a lot has changed in the F10 since my last one rolled off the production line 6 and a half years ago.

Always good to pick the car that has the spec you're willing to live with long term. It's often surprising how many little changes add up with LCI and other minor improvements year to year.

Congrats Fox

Yeah, they've taken it down already.

630i Sport. 07, but just before the refresh. £11990, less £1750 trade in for a 60 reg Fiat Panda. £2k deposit and the rest on finance.

Within a day they've gone from a Fiat Panda, to that, without even thinking properly about it. This can only end well.

Ouch I paid £11'500 18 months ago for a 2008 facelift, convertible. Although it is a manual. £12k still seems like a pretty poor deal though. On the plus side, nothing has really gone wrong with mine over the 20'000 miles I've put on it, seem to be pretty reliable from my experience.
