BMW and M Power Owners

What is the difference between the normal Z 4 and one that is a M-Sport?

I want the M-sport seats anyway, but that white one has the seats but not the M-sport look, apart from the bumpers, is it the adaptive suspension? But again, that white one has that selected, I take it you can spec these independently at the options stage. If it’s just the bumpers difference then I am not that bothered. Although I could see the exhausts now have both together instead of one on each side. Which brings the question, does that mean it has a different exhaust system, hence will sound different?

Adaptive Suspension is optional on the M Sport (and the normal one).

The M Sport Z4 adds anthracite headliner, M Sport wheels, M Sport steering wheel, M Sport suspension (which is probably standard anyway on a 35i), the sport seats and the bodykit.

I don't think there is any difference with the exhaust.

It basically comes down to looks. The M Sport one does look very good, but as with anything looks wise it's subjective.

Wondering if there is a way (almost sure the answer is no) to make the damned satnav NOT to be pointing north all the time. It drives me mad to look at the screen to see the arrow pointing down or left or right....I know it can be changed by going into interactive map but when you quit interactive map, it just reverts to north pointing again. It had an update about a month back so that's not the answer.

Oh and another moan...why the hell do I need to switch auto wipers on EVERY time I start ignition....they are supposed to be auto not semi auto, "oh it's starting to rain...best turn the auto wipers on"....
I don't mind switching them on once but next time I start the car surely it should have them enabled already...totally pointless.

I believe that this is to stop the wiper blades being ripped apart if they are frozen to the windscreen/the windscreen is covered in ice but I'm not sure why I think that :)

Yes. Just change the view from North to Facing Direction of Travel. It's one of the three available views.

As far as I can see, this is available only in the "interactive map" mode, as it's the only place I have seen it and like I say, once leaving the interactive map mode, it reverts back to north facing.

It's been ages since I've used BMW satnav, but isn't there a column of icons on the left, one of which being a compass?

Select that and change the direction or travel.

What car is this? It's in the column of icons up one side that mjt refers to.

Cheers for that guys...shall have to have a proper look later. Its a 65 plated 3 series tourer, luxury edition, I have only owned it about a month or so, hopefully I have just overlooked that area of options.

You've definitely overlooked it as it's been present in every BMW with nav I have driven including the 65 plate 3 Series tourer i hired a few months back :p

I went to change my dipped light bulb and it turns out it's not the bulb that's gone, is there a fuse I need to check? It's the drivers side if that helps. Thanks

Seem to remember there is at least one person here with a 4 banger 528/328i. Anything not to like other than the lack of cylinders? There are a few starting to creep into sensible territory but I wouldn't be seriously looking for a while so just after general experiences specific to the engine really.

Looks a pretty reasonable package

My Mum has a 20i Z4. I quite like it other than the fact it's slow. A 28i would be a fairly good thing, for some reason they they are exceptionally rare.

It's quite frugal too, will easily top 40 on a run.

It's a difficult car to even think about really, there are so little petrol examples around v diesel to start with, most of them typically being a fair distance from me so it will be difficult to even drive one.

I definitely couldn't live with an x20i(or d), would be incredibly frustrated by the lack of outright get up and go really quickly. The turbo looks lively enough to make it almost worth the inevitable sound deficit from ditching 2 cylinders

I do at least know I like the f10/11 to live and drive genrrally - which is probably where I'd end up as the F31 would likely be too small to be ideal

Tbh you'll never find a good 528i so you might as well accept the inevitable and start like 530d's.

I managed to find a 528i SE to test drive but oddly preferred 6 cylinder diesel to 4 cylinder petrol. It works better in the smaller cars, IMHO.

I'll keep an eye out over the next while and see what happens. Diesel inst the end if the world as I'd likely never have it out if warranty cover, it just isn't necessary or particularly desired so slightly reduces the appeal

I kept an eye out for 9 months and in that time found only cars with poor spec or ex BMW-UK cars dumped on the market all with identical (low) specification every 4-5 months. Probably ex rental or similar.

Here's my 3.0Si Z4 Coupe. Had this thing 9 months, loved every minute of it. Never encountered such a good all rounder. Can do the practical and hooligan thing with aplomb. This is at Hartside with my mate in his RX8.
