BMW and M Power Owners

It's a 2012 so it has CIC iDrive. May or may not be something you feel that strongly about but ultimately was one of the reasons I didn't opt for a 6 in the end - always a bit older than the 5.

Perfect thanks, do you find it ever feeling rough / peaky at all when compared to a 6? I can't stand the annoying on/off feeling of some (relative to a 3 litre 6) smaller capacity turbos in traffic or at low revs.

Also when you say it feels powerful what are you comparing it with in terms of previous or other cars?

Comparing it to a fair few others. Especially to the 320d i had before it! Haha. I wouldn't say it feels on/off, it certainly doesn't have the smooth power of the 640 but it definitely doesn't feel rough. When the turbo hits the power band though you definitely know about it. Very pleasant kick.
Keep in mind the 3 is a smaller and lighter car than the 5 and it really shows, it has a much more sporty feel.
I'm honestly not sure how the engine would feel in a 5 compared to the 3.

Fox would a newer business unit with aux work in my 2002 e46 with hk? I keep having to buy aux converted cd changer cables, they don't seem to last long.

If it wasn't for the HK thing I'd say yes it would work - but I don't know how the HK system interfaces. I'd be surprised if it didn't work though.

If my business cd unit in my e46 has a mode button, does that mean I can add an aux lead? It doesn't show aux as an option when cycling mode but I believe the lead has a resistor in it that enables it.

Think from 04? They came with aux so you just need the lead. From what I've read fox the HK is enabled through the loom so in theory should work. May take a gamble on it.

The N57 has ruined me too. It just seems to offer the best of everything :(

Did I not say this years back....did no one listen, you were still going on about your old petrol 6's....tut tut. In the 5 a big torque 6 cylinder oiler matched to that superb box is all the saloon car you need. It is the prefect combination and I would suggest for most of the time, MUCH better than the M5 too and I hate myself for saying it, but tis true.

Other than obviously being more fuel efficient. How exactly is it 'better than the M5'?

The M5 is the best for anyone who can afford the running costs, whereas the 530D is probably the best anyone without such a budget can do for an all-rounder. Still doesn't make it better than an M5 to me. Not when it has that V8.

Although what does everyone think of this 330D I stumbled across. Kidney masher with those wheels and.. quad exhausts bro.

Where would be best to sell my Style 237 winter wheels? The 5 series goes back next week, so these will be for sale. So is ebay the best bet? Probably leave it a month or so mind, as we get closer to winter, to hopefully maximise their worth.

Also, any ideas what they would be worth? They are virtually unmarked, with Dunlop 3D RFT Winter tyres with about 5-6mm tread on them.

For those who don't know what they look like, here is a pic. I believe they are relatively rare, certainly haven't seen many of them about.

Besides being faster, how is the M5 better than a normal nicely specced F10 when commuting, sitting in trafic or listening to an audiobook which is what 95% of normal drivng for me involves.

The M5 is great but flawed in my book.

For the one time a month you can drive for pleasure. :)

My post was on the reality of normal driving. If you want to go quickly in the dry then the M5 is the car you want but really most of the time you dont so the extra oomph is wasted expense in most circumstances. I covered 86k miles in my 530D and the M5 would have been wasted on my usage profile a profile familiar to many. Hence my point really.
